Speaking of batteries, I let my 2002 F150 sit from October until January. We had below zero F in the forecast, so I thought I'd see if it would start. Yep, it fired up after sitting in winter weather for about 90 days. Amazing what older vehicles will do without all the draw on the battery that new vehicles have.

Ooops - 208 watt hours per mile. so just under 5 miles per kilowatt hour.

Studded snows on the car and speeds to 80 mph so pretty poor efficiency at just over 300 watt hour per mile.

Hotel had free charging but mandatory valet parking. So no round trip on one charge but had plenty of charge to make it on a full single charge if needed.

Oh, and the band STYX can still rock after 50 years.

On the other hand, according to a December survey of current ev owners:
less than 1% will return to gas or diesel only after owning electric.

99+ % will always have at least one EV in the mix after owning an ev.

ps. I let the advanced cruise auto steer do about 90% of the interstate and main hiway driving on the way home.
It did still brake in the same spot on hiway 95 that I have sent bug reports to Tesla since 2023.

I was ready though and had my foot on the accelerator, so no slow down,, but Tesla should fix this they have had 2 years. The overall auto steer/ speed control was pretty flawless otherwise.

Really old "news". An estimate from a dealer who didn't want to install a new battery. Who couldn't get the battery from GM because there were none left. But would rather print an outrageous service estimate.

Third parties have better replacement Chevrolet Bolt batteries starting at $5000 and DIY instructions for installation.

I get a new battery for my phone under warranty for free. That beats your $200CDN Corvette battery. Compare apples to apples, not a walnut to steak. Compare putting a new transmission in your Corvette vs the Volt battery.
