Good morning!!!!

60°F and foggy this morning, got up to 65° today. Had some light rain on and off through the day, but calm other than that.

Eating dinner last night, and I noticed out the living room window that it looked like there was smoke blowing through the trees across the road. We got up and looked, and sure enough there was smoke blowing from over by the Sportsmen's Club toward our neighbor's house across the road. When we opened the door, we heard sirens coming towards us. Turned out to be a grass fire around the lake. This happened just about 30 minutes after another grass fire closer to town. 40mph winds were probably carrying embers and started another fire. A little too close for comfort.

The local media had been peppering us for days with reports of dire weather coming our way Friday night. This time they happened to be right. The heavy stuff hit us about 10:30. Wife and I were already in the basement in our recliners when it hit. High winds, sideways rain, lots of lightning, and hail. Broke one window on the front of the garage, and dead-limbed several trees for us. Some of our friends around the area weren't so fortunate, and many have serious property damage. We've been finding out through the course of the day today that a tornado touched just south of town and did a lot of damage. The city just got their power back on within the last hour. Last I read, there were 12 dead just over in Missouri alone, and many more further south. Tough storm.

Removed the broken window this morning. Need to get new glass in it. Boarded up for now. The wind opened the storm door on the well house and popped out one window on it. It didn't break, amazingly, so that was an easy fix. Picked up all the limbs across the driveway. Barn door held steady this time. Could have been worse.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Drew.

Good evening, gents.

Meeting with GD was a good start. Established profile on Going Merry platform and Fastweb to take advantage of applying to multiple scholarship through the platforms as well as 3 or 4 other platforms. Also came up with a list of a dozen scholarships for business and accounting as well as women and minorities. Lots of home work for her and meeting again next week to check on progress and new leads

good morning all
more than 8000 steps yesterday had the expected result, up in middle of night
spraying hot water on legs to get rid of cramps. This time I even remembered to drink extra
water before I went to bed; know I didn't get enough water yesterday while working.
just can't eat mustard at 2am...that works too.

warm day today with storms coming in and an inch of rain.
was wondering if I should venture out this morning before rain starts and get something to put down on top
of new grass seed. Hay, straw, something. Then it gets windy and blows that all over and makes a big mess.

Buppies, prayers for Holly and hope you are doing ok. Being separated must be rough. Very sorry about that.
hopefully better days ahead.

Paul/PJS, glad you are ok in bad weather. Recliners in the basement sounds smart.
visions of seeing you play a pipe organ with some grand music while the storm crashes and rages above... ;)
lots of crescendos...

need to chill out today and recover from overdoing it yesterday.

Drinking hot coffee. 54° with rain this morning. Heading to 56° with cloudy skies. .48" rain since yesterday. Energy conservation did not happen yesterday. After walking Sassy. Decided it would a good time to cleanup area of metal chips where roofing was cut. Got that done and put saw horse away. Then another thing. Winds most of the day kept me from doing any more outside. New roof handled the winds and heavy rain very well. With rain most of the day will be forced into energy conservation.

Buckeye, 100 screws are needed in center of roof. Should not be a problem with current weather forecast.

Prayer and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Ron,wonderful bird picture. He looks inquisitive
what's fun is my sister gave me a window bird feeder like that for my birthday, now
I have to find the right window for it.

time for breakfast
going to cook some bacon, which I hardly ever do
really enjoy putting a piece of cooked bacon in a sandwich
of course a BLT on good bread can be marvelous.
most of my cooked bacon is crumbled up and used for cooking.
one of the most unhealthy things I eat.
is there a turkey bacon or some alternative, besides plant based, that others like?
often the alternatives can cost twice as much
I always look for uncured and/or no nitrates
I think those chemicals are terrible for us
as I sneak a piece of Lebanon bologna once in a while. Talk about nitrates...

local company whose original owner I know pretty well made a fortune on selling
very high quality lunch meats, AppleGate farms. I would look at those small packages with
11 dollar price tags and say not for me. Every once in a while they go on sale and I might buy some
of their super healthy hot dogs.

Good morning, the low is 46 and going to a high of 52°F. Wind SSE 13 gusting to 19 mph. Rain.
The overnight temperature tonight is going to nosedive back to below freezing.

With the roof gone on the shelter I park the tractor in, I put a pee soup can on the exhaust stack even though I know it is redundant. The exhaust is open at the bottom.
I have a replacement roof, I bought three of them in 2021 and just kept them in their boxes until I needed them. Got lazy last fall replaced the other two and didn't do the tractor shed. My bad.

Around noon IF it isn't raining too hard I may go out and relocate some more snow banks.

Ron, did you put eaves troughs on the building with the new tin roof?

Have a safe day all

Breezy and warm 61, going to 71 and stormy.

Thomas, sounds like a real nice grill. Enjoy!

Scotty, tell your wife we think it's a beautiful Saint Patrick's Day table setting. Did you serve corned beef and cabbage or Irish stew? We had Shepherd's Pie for pi day (3.14).

BEF, nice work on the deck.

L4N, that's a lot of snow!

PJ, glad you guys are safe.

Finished my planting of Scotch pines and Elderberries. Took all week to prep the sites, along with mixing in other chores and hikes and roasting coffee, so I feel like a big job is complete. Unfortunately, Della helped me with the Elderberries. They came in a bare root bundle, so I had them sitting in a bucket of water before planting. My wife came to check on my progress, and while we were talking, Della pulled the bundle out of the bucket and carried them into the field as a chew toy. I managed to find them all, but they were mangled. Fingers crossed they will survive.
