Dr told me going over 180 is high, if it does not come down below 140 in 2 hours, that's a problem.

My Libre 3 has normal range set, high 180 low 70, Dr want's me to try and stay within that range.
Alarm goes off at 250 or below 70. I hardly ever set off the alarm, always over 250 never below 70

I go over 180 quite often mostly in the very low 200,s but always comes down within an hour, I've only been below 70 a few times in the past year, over 250 once a month or so..
I find it frustrating because what puts me over 200 today may only go to 150 tomorrow.

From reading on here it sure seems we are all different in our reactions to food, but all agree CGM is a life saver.

I've heard my wife mumble incoherently at 2-3am, checked her level via test strip and it's in the 30s!!! Twice I had to call 911, otherwise if I can get her to take glucose or sugar soda to quickly bring it up that works.
She needs a CGM.

Do you find it interesting that fruit and grains are two of the top three recommendations, yet for those that are preT2D or T2D, they will make things worse? Get a CGM if you're not sure how your body responds. T2D is rampant in this country and is a leading cause of heart disease.

She has a Libre 2, using it for a few months.
For whatever reason she was on insulin 50 units morning and after dinner. Now 40 units morning only and starts dropping in afternoon, eats dinner (about 35 carbs) and continues to drop (about 70-80).
Can't understand why...no pills, no insulin after 9am. She's 71yo

Every day is different. The difference between an item one day that sends you over 200, but only 150 the next can depend on the amount of that food as well as what is paired with it. Fiber will slow the absorption of the carbs into your system. It can also depend on if things are processed. Quick oats will spike your BG a lot more than rolled oats.

what do spikes of higher blood sugar do to you long term?
guessing this is a situation that usually gets worse not better without some
form of intervention
I am reminded of the negative impact repeated electrical outages can do on home electronics.
too many surges and spikes weaken and finally fail components

I believe the two of the impacts are oxidation of cholesterol which means plaque buildup and increases in your body's production of the hormone, insulin. That insulin will try to get your body to use the BG and produce more fat in the body. Without changes, you will get more and more insulin resistant. This is T2 diabetes. That high BG will cause inflammation in your body. This often shows up as joint aches.

I'm not certain what the mechanism is that causes people to lose sight and have limbs amputated is. Either way, you have an A1c above 5.5, take it serious! Prediabetes is just the start of diabetes. Your body is not healthy and you may not realize it. I thought joint aches was just getting older, but I was wrong. All joint aches disappeared as soon as I fixed things.

having all my joint aches disappear is only in my dreams with severe sddd but the aching hands and wrists, that might
be helped
I already take hydrocortisone daily and I think that helps with the inflammation somewhat.

A side effect of hydrocortisone is muscle aches. :)

I'm not sure what sddd is, but have you tried removing carbs? Obviously, carbs are not the cause of all problems for all people, but a few weeks with minimal carbs QUICKLY tells people whether it's an issue for them. I never would have stayed with this change if it wasn't a game changer for me. I remember getting slowly out of bed.

Below is what carb's are. What are you eating?

Carbohydrates, or carbs, are sugar molecules. Along with proteins and fats, carbohydrates are one of three main nutrients found in foods and drinks. Your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose. Glucose, or blood sugar, is the main source of energy for your body's cells, tissues, and organs.
