Another tornado threat! Level 5 alert!

Weather calls for us to be blown, twisted and drowned this week.

Calling for upwards of a foot of rain. Wide spread tornados, and wind gusts of around 70mph.

Yeah the cape values look high as hell down in those parts

What are cape values????

"CAPE

This is a surface based Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE) measurement only. In the cool season, elevated instability may be much higher than surface based cape.

On average, CAPE of 1000 J/Kg is usually sufficient for strong to severe storms. CAPE of 3,000 to 4,000 J/Kg or higher is usually a signal of a very volatile atmosphere that could produce severe storms if other environmental parameters are in place."

Indication of unstable air conducive for severe storm cells or tornados. As @CloverKnollFarms out it "storm fuel".

All the best,

Peter

Tornado warnings are popping off fast now in IL and IN.

Rain soaked ground and high winds, sounds like trees coming down easier. Be smart, be prepared, be safe...

It helps to have some rain out ahead of these lines of weather to use up some energy. The worst are discrete storms that are not in an organized line, as they have no competition for energy. Typically out in front of the line... TN has a bunch of these at the moment, with numerous tornado warnings.

I live on Whidbey Island, which is north of Seattle by about 40 miles. Two years ago we had 27 trees come down in a wind storm. Not much rain but lotsa wind. Mostly alders. This last winter we had 8 trees come down, one was a big hemlock. So we have a bunch of stuff to clean up. Just more fire wood. But our winds and rain pale in comparison to what CloverKnollFarms is experiencing just now. As an aside, could you maybe sign your posts with something shorter than CloverKnollFarms? Like Frank or Henry or Nancy or Jill or similar?
