Tractor
MF 1726E
Can anyone tell me what this (see photos) is on my Massey Ferguson MF 1726E? It's on the right side, below the oil fill cap. It seems to be a cap or a valve in a rubber tube. I think the cap had a tab on it so you could use your fingers to turn it. But the tab may have broken off when my metal funnel fell against it. Either as a result or a coincidence, the tractor will not start now. It cranks fine, but does not fire. Any thoughts?

Looks like the coolant system drain. The left hose is pretty hefty though. Where does it go, to the block?

Yes, you're right. I finally was able to see that one end went to the engine block and the other went to the radiator. I opened it and radiator fluid came out.

So I'm still trying to figure out why the engine won't fire.

Are you sure it's not your fuel cut off valve?

Try it in both positions, one should be off. One will be on.

It looks like it's half way in between right now.
Thnx, but no, it's a coolant drain. See below--

Does your machine have a fuel solenoid?

Not exactly a great spot to put it. But, it's a subcompact, so there are not a lot of options.

Do you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key on? It should be under the seat.

Google says it does. Is that something I can & should check? (I'm not familiar with how to do so.)

On my kioti, the fuel solenoid wasnt operating. It turned out that the relay that supplied power to the solenoid wasnt working. Im not sure how your particular unit is set up. Also on most tractors, a seat or clutch switch could affect fuel shutdown. You should check all the safety switches.
