For years we eat the same breakfast, usually cereal, maybe donuts, yogurt, banana, pancakes, coffee. Typical American breakfast.
There's a restaurant nearby that has Sunday brunch and I got French toast platter weeks ago. It was amazing (for a 500 pounder which I'm not)...5 pieces Texas toast, bacon & sausage, loaded with syrup, a huge slice...looked like 1/4 cheesecake on top, loads of whipped cream & some strawberries all on (I'm serious) a platter that you'd expect to see a Thanksgiving turkey on.
At home I napped (I never do) and felt pretty lousy.
I did my best eating maybe 2/3rd & gave up.
Lord only knows how many calories & carbs.
Here's the challenge:!
Today I asked wife let's try 2 eggs on whole wheat, a small fruit & small tossed salad (no dressing), cooked spinach+turnip greens, coffee.
A strange breakfast but ever since energy you wouldn't believe!
Try it once & report back.🫠

For the past 10+ years, I get up every morning and fix breakfast for me and my wife.

Every day, except Fridays, it's 2 eggs with shredded cheese sprinkled on top, 2 slices of turkey bacon, and some sort of fresh fruit. The fruit could be strawberries, blueberries, oranges, bananas, grapes, or any combination of those. And sometimes I'll add yogurt and nuts.

On Fridays, we will skip the bacon and eggs, and go with old fashioned oatmeal, with the fruit and yogurt.

Before starting this breakfast, I would eat a bowl of cereal, or some pop tarts, or something like that, and would be starving again by 9-10am and looking for more junk food to hold me til lunch. Now, I almost always make it til lunch without needing a snack. However I do carry a big bag of trail mix in my truck, just in case I need something.

I go to Hardee’s about once a month and get a mix of a couple dozen biscuits. Freeze them in ziplock bags. Thaw overnight one at a time in the refrigerator then microwave for about 30 seconds. Not as good as fresh but sure beats a 10 mile one way trip to town.

I did. I almost want to go back just to take pictures. Oh...and the last thing they did was sprinkle the platter with confectionery sugar.

Most mornings it's bacon eggs and potatoes with an English muffin.
The variations are sub out the taters for one of the following topped with real maple syrup- grits, fried mush, home made waffle or French toast when we have homemade bread. If three or four grandkids spend the night it sometimes is all the above. And yes it's our favorite meal.

I'm curious to know anyone trying today's "eggs on whole wheat, a small fruit & small tossed salad (no dressing), cooked spinach+turnip greens, coffee." if they have the same high energy effect. The portions weren't all that much. No meat. One teaspoon sugar for coffee. The odd thing is wife has type 2 diabetes but blood sugar low all day without meds or insulin.

What part of this meal gives you the energy?
I've always been a morning person, which means I'm at my best first thing in the morning, no matter what breakfast I have. I've worked along side people that couldn't do anything until they've had 2 or more cups of coffee.
I have to be careful with caffeine. More than one cup of coffee in the morning is not good for me. And any caffeine after lunch and I won't sleep at night.

I kind of rotate what's on hand and the regular.
If I have left over pizza and wings I'll heat them up in the air fryer.
Chinese food is good cold, same with spaghetti with a meat sauce.
Today I had a bacon, cheese, egg and tomato sandwich on toast.
A western is common.
Egg salad sandwich.
Oatmeal cooked with whole milk and whatever berry, fresh/frozen, is on hand. I'll have that with a couple boiled eggs.
3-4 sunnyside up eggs sprinkled with paprika, salt and pepper and some Frank's with toast.
If I have left over soup, that's a go.
The other day I made a big roast so brekky was an open faced roast beef sandwich with a mushroom, onion and veggy gravy.
Love cabbage rolls for brekky. Mine are heavy on the meat.
Home fries with green onions, bacon chunks omelette. I could eat my own weight in one of these.
People who eat cold boxed cereal, pop tarts, donuts, dry toast etc have my sympathies.

I have a 2 egg omelet with a little cheese and spinach, fruit and yogurt, tea not coffee and juice. Whole wheat is a just say no item for me. I think time spent on a good breakfast does make the day better. Too many of us are always in a hurry to go nowhere.

FWIW, there are some that believe an apple is better than coffee

I enjoy my breakfasts; I have a couple of different ones that I do.
I'll cook up a pound of sausage with peppers and onions then a couple of cans of Rotell tomates, some diced green chilies then get out a scoop in the morning, scrabble an egg add some cheese and make a couple of breakfast burritos. That will last a week to 10 days. Then this week I'm making breakfast sandwichs, English muffin, fried egg and cheese with a sausage patty. Then I'll make a batch of sausage gravy and have that with a biscuit and a fried egg for a week till the gravy is done.
Then I'll throw in an omelet or just a side meat with eggs and toast every once in a while.

I'm boring, Cheerio's, blueberries and skim milk most mornings. No caffeine.

About once a month we'll hit the diner for breakfast - veggie omelet, home fries and 2 cups of coffee.

Was in a bit of hurry today
Italian sausage bits fried up and added to 2 pan scrambled eggs, seasoned and peppered.

I never eat breakfast and I have a fully stocked hospital cafeteria, and Starbucks, just down the hall from my office. I don't even eat breakfast on the weekends.

A coffee and two bananas for breakfast.

I try to eat a bigger lunch, it's usually some business lunch meeting.

Dinner is just something lite, if that.

I don't generally do typical breakfast items. Seems like most of it revolves around eggs (which I don't like) and/or something kind of greasy. I'll either eat leftovers from supper or make some sort of burrito, along with a piece of fruit, either a banana or something citrus. I used to do cereal once a while (raisin bran, grapenuts or some sort of granola usually), but my wife's been on an anti-dairy kick lately so we haven't had milk in the house. Yeah, I could buy a small container, but I use so little of it, it generally goes bad before I finish it.

just an FYI, some of the organic milks have really long shelf life's in the fridge. Ones that are ultra heat treated can sit in the cupboard before the refrigerator.
