Plans for today...8 hours at part store afterwards not sure yet.

Mostly, the sheriff came and authorized the tow. Interesting that I didn't get a parking ticket.

Yesterday morning was 39F, so hauled butt to the mountains to test out my newest parking technique...perfectly between the white lines in the SNP designated parking lot. Had a good, long hike with Della, making more progress on my Shenandoah 500 challenge. Perfect weather, waterfall, huge rock cliff and surprised to see no one else...but these were 2 pretty obscure trails.

perfect morning for clearing out some brush, helper due in around 9am
that should take a few hours and then have a few projects to work on.

always thought boxwood had slight smell when in hot sun. Sure never tasted it though...
too bad the deer seem to like that taste

good morning, 54 going to 82 sunny

Mowed a couple of hours yesterday the outer fields. Raised mower to 4 inch for first mow

ordered a clamp with handle to help lift plywood from Kregs. Seems the 3/4 inch sheets are getting heavier, LOL

Worked some more on reclaimed wood and removing nails. They are hard to pull out and keep bring down bigger tools. Some of the nails may be handmade?

Ct, 49 to start going to upper 70’s. Bright and sunny now but some wind kicks in later. Got the lawn mowed yesterday I between launching soda bottle rockets
Also walked around the lawn and trimmed things up with my weed whacked.

Was a nice day to sit outside and take frequent breaks

Dennis, the deck looks great but that table stands out like a sore thumb . You need to do something about that . Don’t you like how I can find work for others

The grands leave this morning but the other two are coming for the day, so no real relief until tonight

Still need to push mow around the pool perimeter today and work called and wants me for tomorrow.
Pollen coming down quite heavy now, impossible to keep vehicles looking clean

Thursday morning heading north, although the weather not looking too good but we might have to work in the rain to get things done.
Hopefully not too heavy.

I ordered a new rebuild kit for the fuel pump on the Wheel Horse, I will just keep replacing everything until I fix it . Or if everything fails I will do a complete engine rebuild.

Picked up some more potting soil for Kathleen for her raised bed garden and herb garden. Along with herbs and some flowers for around the pool

Good Morning! a warm 73˚F heading to the upper 80s, cloudy, S winds. Chance of rain tomorrow keeps going down was 70% now 40%. We need inches not 100th of inches.

Got to work yesterday and a guy was by my tractor. He was doing the maintenance on it, changing oil and filters and doing little welding repair on the tractor wagon steps. Makes it more enjoyable when you don't have the time and expense of maintenance and You actUally get paid for seat time, there should be a law against it. I got called in because of the school field trips. The teachers and chaperones are always so thankful to do the tractor ride, it gives them a sit-down break.

The big tent went up in the sunflower field and 20 sets (?) of animated unicorns will be delivered soon. When I mention this to the riders they get excited because the unicorns will be in the sunflower field. This is the same company that brought the dinosaurs out in the winter. There will also be two Saturday evenings of the wine and snack trail stops through the sunflower field for adults. Glad they don't need the tractor for this.

On the home front I bungled up the repair on the leaking sprayer on the kitchen sink. the garbage disposal broke off it's bracket when my shoulder was leaning against it, and would not go back on, had to call the plumber out - all fixed now, but will have to get new kitchen faucet because new sprayer threads were different, or leave it and don't use it. Cleaning the old one with 45% vinegar did not help.

Yard mowing is now a weekly job, good thing I can finished the whole yard with one battery.

Landscape fabric came in for the dry river bed (100' X 5'), need to spend a few hours today removing rocks and vegetation.

Bright spot of the day. Won all 5 games at cards last night!

Drew, neighbors Boxwood shrubs were next to patio/deck and picnic table.They have a group of them in front yard. But nobody sits around them. So people not bothered by smell. More sun makes the smell worst.

Good morning, the low is 56 and going up to 64°F. Wind SSW 15 mph. Showers and possible T-storms.

The rain came down so hard that it woke me up at 4 A.M. Went right back to sleep and got up at 6. All outside work for today put off until tomorrow.

Back down the rabbit hole.

Good morning 62 going up to 82 and sunny.
Spent a few hours with the big hedge trimmer and cut back the vines and bushes along the road.
Took all I had to finish, by the end I had trouble lifting my arms ...

About 9pm yesterday we lost power again, did not go back on til almost 3am.
Ran the genny for a few hours so we could take showers and prepare for bed.

Did do pick up sticks in side yard by the pool, still need to do that for lower backyard.
More piles of sticks to chip...
Need to get this done before grass is too high to see them, and grass is growing fast now.

Finally got this thing in pretty good shape, still more trimming once it stops flowering. Grows 2-4 feet a month during spring.

Good Morning
60° on its way to 80 under a clear sky.

Got all the mulch spread, actually had a little left over.

That took most of the day, didn’t do much else besides load grain into the barn.
Today’s plan is to empty the manure bin, and haul it to neighbors. I’m guessing it will be 5 trips with the dump trailer.
First step is to put the loader on the tractor, after I cut a piece of fence and some truck keys for a neighbor.

feels good to sit down, got all my tree trimming done, then went to Home Depot and lugged
50 pavers home for making garden borders. Of course I was two short on one color and one extra on the other, so need to
go back for a few more. This way weedeater won't be wacking into mulch and sending it flying.
going to let my lawn mower guy set the stones, too much hand/wrist work for me. Tough digging in that gravel too.

Ken, is that a lilac? bet it smells nice

I’m sure this is a drastic change for her. While I didn’t ask directly, my sense is her 10 week life has been mostly in a very nice kennel with her litter mates, whereas this house must be total sensory overload. Inquisitive as the dickens
But she also seems very smart and quick to learn. Definitely likes food, not just her puppy chow but getting her head into whatever the boys have.

Interesting to see the interaction with the boys. Kekoa more of toleration, Makani more involved. But as Makana nuzzled in, see pic below, Makani’s expression was along the lines of “what the…?”

She did spend the night peacefully in her crate. My trick of sticking a finger or two thru the door grate for her to snift was enough to settle her.

Next few days will require lots of attention. Life is good.

After finishing deck boards this morning, mowed the entire yard. The plan was to run to town for some bags of concrete, but by the time I mowed, ate a couple bites of food and showered, it was already after 3 pm. cleaned bird crap off truck again, then decided it's now 4 pm, I don't feel like hefting a bunch of concrete mix bags in 87 deg weather, so came back in.
Also had decided not to go to the farm this week, although they are busy there moving equipment in and out. supposed to get storms there this evening, and rain the rest of the week.
Late last night when I couldn't sleep, I was debating selling my L3940 with backhoe, and buying a skid steer, that would be capable of lifting a ton of pellets. Need to research that.

Storming in Ohio now.

Dennis, I had concerns due to low price but when all built, a firepit with four chairs and cushions for 800 bucks was half the cost of anything
I could find locally. Chairs seem durable, fabric is rough and not fancy but looks fine. Definitely a couple hours to assemble.
