As a former small business owner, Auto Service Shop, I believe Messicks is on the right track. They will offer to charge you a price that buying from them is only done when YOU are smoking Weed.
I think it's the 20/80 rule. 20% of your customers account for 80% of your revenue. The other 80% are tire kickers, one time purchasers, looking for a cheap low profit deal, and then go elsewhere for the other cheapest deal. No loyalty and no future sales.
Chasing those customers is a race to the bottom and you're business will suffer/fail.

I hardly equate the fact that I live almost 3 hours from the closest dealer to my smoking weed.

I really appreciate all that Messicks has to offer, but their shipping charges always eliminate them as a competitive choice.
I assume they are aware of that, and choose extra shipping profit over increased parts sales

Sounds like a UPS problem. Messicks isn't making money on the shipping are they?

Normally as a retired trucker I would say if you don't like the delivery charge, go pick it up. But google map says 33 hrs and 2175 miles one way, so $250.00 looks like a heck of a deal.

kinda curious what Coleman would charge to send it to PA, and what Messick's would charge to send it to MO?

Doesn't BEC have a salesman that works the Laughlin area? I know that they used to have someone working the Kingman area. Call Jimmy at Parker and see what he can do to help you out.

Jimmy's who I bought my box blade, Bobcat auger and grapple from, it's always an all day flipping affair driving there due to the distance, yes that's my closest dealer.

Coleman's is in Kansas City fyi. I buy from them regulary. Their ship cost is reasonable, Messicks is stupid. It's like Messicks has good prices, so good they make it up on shipping....

Far as their video's, I don't watch them as a rule.

My local Kubota dealer ships as well btw.

One time I ordered from Messicks, one time only when I found out what the ship cost was, that ended that real quick.

I don't use SUDT anyway, I use Chevron All Weather THC synthetic. Get it in 55's from my local jobber.

Same with oil, Rotella T6 in 55's as well.

Learned a long time ago that buying in bulk is cheaper and it don't go bad in a drum anyway so if it takes me 2 or 3 years to use it, all still good.

Thanks for the comments, yea I'll have to just start doing a regular road trip and buy in bulk... no biggy, was just having a heavy flow month yesterday when I saw the $150.00 disparity....

I suspect if you live close to them then shipping isn't a problem but if you don't Colemans is a better option.

I bought my 200 hour service parts from Messicks years ago and Neil tried to dissuade made saying the freight is expensive but with no Kubota Dealer in several counties I said ok…

Since then, I plan ahead so if I’m a hundred miles from home I will swing by a dealer and pick up at will call…

Messicks had everything I needed and said it would go out same day…

Transportation has gotten expensive on everything, everywhere and why I prefer to purchase my stuff as locally as possible today. I've lost a lot of overseas customers simply because the offshore sip rates have went out of sight. For an xample, to ship a 12 pound parcel to Ireland the least expensive way, costs more than the item costs. Crazy prices today.

However, i never inflate the ship cost, ever and I strive to secure the least espensive carrier. Having said that, when I do confirm an order, I always tell my customer up ftont what the cost will be and let them decise, so there is no surprises ever.

Maybe, I thought I overpaid to have a full pallet of solar panels shipped from Texas to n Idaho @$400, almost 2000lb shipped ~ 2500 miles. It was cheap compared to the steel for the ground mount, shorter distance and less weight but they charged $2500. I think some sellers do make "extra" on the shipping. I also use Messicks as well for the old Ford Backhoe parts, but when they say they have something in stock they mean it and that is worth something as well.

I would not pay that much to ship hydraulic oil either though.

See, solar panels I went and picked up myself cus they were closer than a K dealer... still had two bust panels when I got home due to the way the forklift driver loaded them.. arg

Sorry that you took that personally, that wasn't my intention. It was meant to be a response from a business owner trying to explain why sometimes, chasing that certain customer just isn't worth the time.
I did enjoy your comment about Bezos Bimbos.

Shipping is the deal breaker on a lot of things I buy. Often, I will find a good deal on parts and the shipping cost more than the part itself. I find myself shopping for shipping. I have also bought extra stuff I knew I was going to use in the future to get free shipping.

I have ordered parts from them and had them delivered at my door a day or two later. I was never there until a few months ago when I bought a cap for my truck and drove past there. I had to stop in and look around. I must say I was very impressed with the size of the place. I was just looking around and found everyone very helpful and friendly.

If they wern't 2 1/2 hrs. away I would go, there more frequently. All the dealers around me treat you like you owe them money and give you an attitude when ordering parts. 🍻
