Marijuana on the job

I can honestly say that I have never tried poppers. But everything else, yes. I used to say 'if you haven't tried it don't knock it', well I am here to say now that I can and will knock most everything except weed/hash. I still do NOT toke and drive.

Just recently, Niles Township, MI, just north of South Bend, IN, started taking applications for pot stores, several have been made so far. They will be located just north of the Indiana state line, like as little as a couple of hundred feet, so the Hoosier potheads can slide up there and buy their weed. Personally, I think the cops should watch patrons leave the stores and pull them over once the cross the state line. We have enough problems with alcoholics and hard drug users, potheads are just another problem. A significant percentage of drivers stopped for DWI are stoned according to arrest reports.
I have a neighbor that is always complaining about being broke, but always seems to have a couple of hundred bucks to buy pot a couple of times a month. He doesn't get any sympathy from me.
I guess it's all about priorities.

If their lives are so bad that hey need drugs to cope, it would seem to me that that the money could be better spent to make changes in their life, like vocational training or online education so they could get a better job.

I guess I'll never understand what goes on in their heads.

to the OP's original thread. how do employers cope with potential safety/liability issues with employees on drugs (given all other headaches of regulations)
seems to me, so many employees are also on legal prescriptions that are as equally hazardous to the work arena.

it's all about State & fed regulation & of course liability insurance. sympathize with the OP for the question.
otherwise, the thread becomes a confessional of personal "drug" use that diverts the OP's question & concern

IMO, we're moving backwards. The states are "legalizing" the sale and use yet the fed still just says no. So much in fact that these dispensaries aren't allowed to have bank accounts. No bank accounts, how accurate are the tax receipts? Who is left holding the bag if weed is found to cause certain long-term ailments (like cigarettes)?
In md there are no tax gains from weed sales, they made it tax exempt

I’ve read even Indiana has even began considering legalizing some type of weed usage.
It’s been so long since I have had I puff, I kinda forget what it’s like.

My idea of getting high for the last 25/30 years is enjoying a root beer float!

Did you see the ban on pot store billboards/advertising they want to implement in Indiana? The reasoning being if it's not legal in Indiana, it shouldn't be legal to advertise for it in Michigan. So driving up 933, for example, you see pot shop billboards in Indiana for the stores up ahead just a few miles in Michigan. However, I believe they grandfathered any advertising that is already in place until its contract runs out. I seem to recall one of them signed a 10 year contract before the ban. ;)

Just a quick screen grab from Wiki....
- 39 states have legal medical marijuana.
- 24 states have legal recreational marijuana.

Indiana is surrounded. Pot shops at every boarder.

Can't go wrong with a root beer float!

You could add a shot or two of this, though...

As for Indiana legalizing pot for recreational use.... we just got Sunday liquor sales a few years ago. I'd be surprised if we got legalized pot until only a couple states are left that don't have it.
