Great point! Sunblock with zinc or titanium oxide offers solid protection, especially for sensitive skin.

My dad had half his face and ears trimmed off while he was 55 to 95yo. I hope to not do that.

I have recently had a relative with skin cancer in a lower extremity, that was never exposed to sunshine. This person always avoided sunshine exposure on the skin in general.

Is it sticky at all? I never get pimples except when I use sunscreen, so I usually go with hats instead, but I really should use sunscreen on my nose.

I try to not use sunscreen and simply protect myself instead with a hat and long sleeve shirt, wile making sure i get my skin exposed for about 20 to 40 minutes off the peak hours of the day for my doze of vitamin D … if you look at the statistic the country that use the most sunscreen are also the one with the most cancer i know it’s not as simple as that, its a multi variable problem. I agree that sunburn are not good but being Vitamin D deficiency is probably worse the problem is not being exposed to the sun for a extended period of time then over exposure and let’s not think that sunscreen is 100% safe ether there are ingredients in there whether they are listed or not that also cause cancer.

two miss conception, one is we didn’t live as old in the past that’s false to a point yes ok in the stone age they didn’t live too old but more because of injuries then anything else … it’s not because the average life spans was 30 that people didn’t live to 90 years old it’s just lot more people didn’t made it to adulthood.

two, the skin is the largest organs we have anything and everything good or bad get absorb no exception …

don’t be the guy that don’t put sunscreen because it’s bad but put bug spray on

Talk about a fake sunburn, try putting calcipotriene-fluorouracil 5% cream on the same area twice a day for a week or two.

It works great for getting rid of actinic keratosis, but stay out of the sun. It burns by its self and the sun will make your sunburn something you'll never forget.

I’m in the , wear clothing and a hat camp if I want to reduce sun exposure. Definitely not a fan of lathering my skin with nasty, sticky , oily chemicals.

Agreed. I still sometimes need some on my nose or hands. I have a hat with a neck protector, but it's not always practical.

I also avoid the worst of the day and limit the time I'm in it. Most summer days I'm in before 10a. The trade-off is insects...so I have to put on different chemicals.

In the summer, I like snap western style shirts but can't find them that are UV rated. I do get burned right through clothing.

Both Grandfather and Father died from Leukemia at ages 72-73

Both had Melanoma in their mid 60’s…

Both were out in the sun year round working but always covered up except face/head exposed.

20 years ago this month I was urged to have a spot on my face checked and it came back negative… had it checked twice more and negative…. same area as my father…

Within 24 hours 2 doctors I work with said have it checked again…

This time confirmed and offered Mohs surgery but then switched to staged surgery…

Face bandaged right now with incisions about the area of 3 quarters.

Part of me wonders if family history repeating itself?
