11,000 miles in 11 days... and they say I'm the crazy one. LOL.
I can't imagine...

though when I was a young man, I did 7000 miles in 27 days, ON A VESPA!
Miami to Western Montana and return. 11,000 is way more than 7,000!
I only like riding solo, groups bug me...

I'll read/view just about anything to do with MCs..... but, something about BIG trips on small machines means I'm along for the whole ride.

Not sure I can find it again, but a # of years back on advrider, a 30 y/o or so male teacher from Korea took a sabbatical, flew to the USA, and bought a new Honda Fifty (Fiddy) on the East coast, and set out to ride across the USA to the Pacific. He posted a few pics about the trip on ADV, and almost instantly, had a massive following...... places to stay, help with MTCE, Tires etc all flowed down the road with the Fiddy.

Along the way, somebody had to explain why he was being accused of Jedi mind-tricks, by setting him down with various Star Wars DVDs (he'd missed the early stuff) at one badly needed MTCE stop...... early on, you'd see an initial pic of serious scowls on a LEO or 2 pulling him over, then followed by pics of smiling LEOs standing beside him, arm-on-shoulder as you would with a buddy. (Forget about plates or insurance, rider from Kimchee-land didn't roll with any, all the way across the continental US).

Epic Ride, for sure.

My travels on the Vespa were well rewarded. The comments and reception when I made stops at grocery stores were the best. "You rode that thing all the way here!" ;-)
I camped where ever the evening caught up with the opportunity. One rainy night, I was on a picnic table under a small town park shelter. In the middle of the might, a lightning bolt lit everything up, and less than four feet from my head (but on the other side of a wire fence) was a great bull, horns shining with the rain.
I would do it again, but my butt got mighty sore.

I actually did the ride because a read a short piece in Cycle World about some European fellow that came over and rode about 1000 miles in the Appalachian regions over a period of some weeks.

I thought the effort was pathetic and could do better.

;-)

Don't usually ride at night, but it had been a while so I took a short jaunt 15 miles maybe. Back country roads doing about 35mph.
Saw in this order:
feral cat
twin fawns
bunny
bull frog
bunny
armadillo (these can launch you at speed).
1 dude walking in the dark back to his compound.

It seems like the motorcycle blue book sites are a bit under priced.

I think I will get rid of my old WR250R and find a XT250 in it's place. I'm 5-11 and still have trouble with the seat height after doing the factory lowering adjustments and even installing a Yamalink.

I've seen some sites where people want crazy money for a used WR or XT yet the JD Powers site seems a tad underpriced on my WR.

In retirement I find I'm dropping the bike more. I could take my SxS on western camping trips but like the nimbleness of the small dual sport plus it's street legal.

No motorcycle yet, had a choice tractor or motorcycle and well. Right now living in the city the scoots work fine. 1982 Yamaha Riva CV80 79cc and 2020 Kymco Like 150cc. Both had around 100 miles when I got them in 2023, the Kymco has over 3k now. Once we get moved down to the new place not sure what I'll get for highway use.
