2 things I really have no use for is 'idiot lights' and the idiots who pay attention to them.

Oh brother. Idiot lights have a function. Like reminding you to remove parking break. But i agree i dont like them for important functions such as oil pressure or temps. These should be gauges.

I like a gauge AND a big red flashing light, for anything as critical as oil pressure. The gauge is to spot a problem or odd behavior before it becomes critical, or to verify why the light has come on. But I still like a bright red light to catch my eye, while I'm busy focusing on something other than the dash!

So... call me an idiot! :ROFLMAO:

What I meant to state actually. Parking brake light as well as glo plug light is good with me. Oil pressure and water temp lights not so good because when the light comes on, chances are the damage is already done. I cannot imagine an out of fuel light, it illuminates as the motor is sputtering to a stop...lol

Ya, i am always checking gauges while operating. Comes from years of flying private airplanes. Always scan dash.
Closest I ever came to flying a plane was sitting in the copilot's seat in the company Lear, when on short jaunts. Never had a copilot aboard. Don't know if that is kosher or not but how we flew all the time. I was always more comfortable in that seat than sitting in the back for some reason.

You were probably listed as the co-pilot in the log at the time 😄

My tractor has a generic <!> orange indicator light, it always catches my eye when it comes on, and the text display on the dash will scroll whatever warning had caused the <!> light to come on.

One of the things that triggers the <!> is low fuel, something like 1/8th of a tank is the threshold. It's not like I'd be running out of fuel on a regular basis without that little feature, my old tractor didn't have it and I survived.

But I did manage to run that old machine out of fuel at least once in its lifetime, and once is enough when dealing with having to re-prime a diesel engine. So, I appreciate the idiot light.

Both my M's are the first Kubota's I've owned with actual fuel gages. I still carry my fuel level stick behind the seats anyway.
