I Went To Purchase A New Mini-Excavator And This Happened.....

Having said that, my dealer has no rental machine for rental and never has had. He does trade with other dealers when a dealer requires a machine he has in stock, just how that plays.

When I bought my Kubota BV round bailer, he got it from another dealer and was shipped to him. Interestingly, the bailer had a full roll of net installed. Normally, a new, unused unit will have what is termed a starter roll installed and bailers today with full electronic controls will not only record the number of bales run, but the TOTAL bales run and the total bales run cannot be reset as it's a hard total in the computer.

When I took delivery of the bailer, first thing I checked was the hard bale count and 5 bales were showing on the non resettable bale counter. I assumed it was run because if the full roll of net and the hard count confirmed that.

Did I whine about it? Of course not because I got a good price on it and 0 percent financing plus Kubota did quarterly payments. I ran the payments for a year and paid it off.

Far as I was concerned it was new and the warranty on it stated as such. Kubota warrants their hay tools for 2 years unconditionally and I used that warranty becsue I had issues with the ner tail not extending far enough when bailing not full capacity bailes and Kubota had to actually come to the farm and adjust the computer to extend the tail accordingly at no cost to me what so ever. I don't get my panties in a wad over things like that. Life is too short.

Nope, I didn't ask and the dealer didn't offer any remedy so it is what it is.. I'd rather absorb the delay and start over fresh and have a good experience..

.

Why are most of you bashing him for not accepting w/e the dealer decided to send? Wherever that machine came from, the dealership should have been completely embarrassed and apologetic about delivering "new" in any condition other than complete, clean and serviced ready to work.
The owners, sales, service and delivery all skipped the fact this "new" piece of equipment wasn't ready to be delivered.

The OP isn't pissed at the machine, the dealer experience screwed the whole deal.
(y) Sometimes a person has to do what they need to do. The buyer is the one paying the fee and the dealer got real lazy. I would assume that many customers are noticing the new way of doing business by this dealer. BTW.. My cousin keeps his rental equipment at his business cleaner than how this "new" excavator was delivered.

Could have but shouldn't have to. When was the PDI done? Last week, last month, never or was it a rental that was pulled to deliver?
Maybe its an age difference or just a difference in the world's rights and wrongs. There certainly is a difference between the buying crowd where few want to know what is the total cost and most just ask "how much is the payment".

If you have a renter that can use a machine 7 hours and it look like that then I want to rent them my machine. That machine hasn’t ever dug dirt. I agree that the dealer should have washed that machine. I’ve said so several times but that machine is not “used”.

Yea I'm going to call BS on this, After cleaning equipment for prolly 3 years now, the grease alone is almost impossible to completely remove unless your giving them steam baths.

A renter won't even get it off the trailer before its scratched more.

The tracks on mine were dirty before I even had the bucket pinned on. The bucket and blade were scratched up in the first 10 minutes. By 7 hours the bucket paint was gone and the blade had significant use signs. There’s just no way that machine has been used for any time and definitely not 7 hours.

So your brother sands and paints equipment after every rental? I doubt that.

His equipment, with 7 hours on it, looks better than the OP's "new" equipment.

If it came from Bayside, they have 3 locations. I'm betting his "brand new 0 hour" is still in Faulkner and the one that was dropped (7.1 hours) came from Upper Marlboro.
The "dealer" does not have a 36 year history. Hugh C. Gardiner sold to Bayside (automotive dealership) around March 2022. The Gardiners that still work there are considered employees.
This ^ I was going to ask if you are SURE the one you got is the same one you looked at and agreed to buy. As someone who's had a similar experience with a JD dealer, I guarantee this kind of thing can happen.

I’m wondering if the dealer didn’t get back that excavator from somebody with 7 hours of use, and had an issue with the plow assembly, and swapped it out with a new one?
Notice how the whole bolt-on plow assembly looks brand new , with …… no dust or dirt on it.🤔

Did I miss the “technical “ explanation from one of the equipment experts here, why the entire core machine is dirty and used looking, except for the bolt on plow assembly?

Contrast it to the boom cylinder, which to anyone unbiased, shows dirt patterns that develop with use, ..not from simply sitting

I have to wonder if the hour meter was swapped also.

It’s stored in the computer. It’s not as simple as that. And why do you think it’s been swapped?

The blade has the same grease stains around the pivots and the folding wings have some rust around them. It doesn’t look out of place to me.

I took my 2020 F350 to the dealer where I bought it for an insurance repair for gray digger rodent damage around the fuel tank / canister. The pickup was done but they said they were still awaiting the insurance check. On it went for a few weeks to over a month AFTER it was done and ready for pickup. The insurance company / agent verified the check was sent. I finally had the wife drive me there and I confronted the guys at the service desk. Finally one of them returned from the office and said the check was sitting on someone's desk. I got the keys and needless to say I was POed.

I got in the pickup and there was no hang tag. I looked at the service ticket which had the check-in mileage but there was over 1500 miles over that for the check-out mileage. The odometer had another 300 miles on it from the check-out miles on the ticket. They were obviously using the pickup internally. They had changed the oil, which was not requested, FOR FREE, and there was no charge! The wife was standing outside the door and grabbed the service ticket and marched in and ripped everyone and there brother a new poop hole (She's a vet Army drill sgt). How they thought they could pull this off to long time customers who have bought several new pickups there plus always having our service done there is beyond me.

Don't kid yourself about the things a dealership will do and think they can get away with it.

This is my 40 when it was new. Those pictures are timestamped August 29th last year, the same day I picked it up. Look at the grease around the pins. That’s not quite as bad as the op,s machine but let’s park it on a dusty lot and drive around it with a bunch of forklifts kicking up dust and see what happens. And for the 20th time I’m not defending the machine being dusty. The dealer should have washed it. I’m defending the idea that that machine is used. It’s clearly not.

This looks like the same grease caked with dust stains on the blade to me. And while we’re inspecting the blade do you see any dents on the pins from driving them out and back in? Any scratches on the bolts from taking them out? Any paint chips on the hose guard where it’s slightly misaligned under the bolts? They would have had to take the hoses off to change the blade. Do you see any hydraulic oil statins on the blade? Either that’s the work of the most careful mechanic in history or that blade is original to the machine.
