You Know You Are Old When

You know you are old if you remember when you drove through the bank and walked in the pharmacy.

I'd much rather do everything in person.
lol... I'm just the opposite! If there's a way to mail-order it to my house, then sign me up! I would go weeks on end without ever leaving my own property, if it weren't for chauffering kids to activities and the fact that I can't get my wife to shop for beer or liquor. :ROFLMAO:

Oh we mail order also...but business...bank, major purchases, business matters.
We don't drink, so no "American Boy's Club" trips

Now if you could tell them that DD coffee may be good, but not good enough to block two lanes because you can't get out of the road. I like a good cup myself but tabernak, is it really worth sitting there for 20 minutes and blocking the main highway?
NO

Funny you say that though.

When I took my son up to PA the other week to make some visits, on the way back to NC I stopped in at DD right by where we were staying for some coffee and a doughnut.

Walk in and stand at the register for a good 5 minutes, everyone was busy behind the counter I guess doing the drive through (which is why I went inside).

People behind the counter walking by not even saying anything to me. Finally a girl (customer) comes in behind me and apparently you have to place your order on this big screen over on the side which I paid no attention to. Felt like an idiot just standing there, but more ticked off that a employee couldn't explain to me what I was supposed to do or even ask me why I was at the register. First time in DD probably over a decade, and probably will never give them a penny of my future business. Besides that, I prefer a warm Krispy Cream doughnut over theirs anyways.

McDonalds is going the same way with ordering off a screen, but at least you can still order at the counter if you want to.

I encountered the same at Wendy's, but at least they explained it to me.
I had been on my snowsled for 7 hours and was cold and tired. When they brought my order out it included an extra order of fries. I didn't catch what he said but was dressed in full riding gear except my helmet, which was out on the sled.
I think they believed I was homeless.

What they really want is for you to download their "app" so that they can track your purchases and keep bugging you with offers.

You owned a business for most of your career, so you know that every business owner tends to be closely tied to their banker. But the funny thing is, I've never met mine face-to-face! All of our business happens over the phone or MS Teams chat.

Most of our major purchases also get delivered, it's easier to just forklift it right off a truck at the end of my driveway, than go retrieve it in my own truck. That said, I'm breaking my rule this morning, and driving to a vendor's factory to pick up some parts, it's cheaper and faster than shipping just 20 minutes drive across town. :ROFLMAO:

I can recall when everyone had a "banker" and bank tellers who know you by name. When everything was done either with cash or check. Didn't matter if it was a business or an individual. Businesses would get a little bank bag for their cash and check for deposits and to carry their desired coinage and or bills back.
This was before even drive through's were common.
