I'll just have water

My wife is similar - never able to balance a checkbook, or manage finances, so thats my job, We have an agreement if it's over like $250 we discuss it first. She's always finding "deals" especially on dresses, oh look how much I saved us today! Not expensive, $100-200 typically, and usually one or two a month.

For her its clothes and shoes, and me it's tractors, tools, and chainsaws, she asks, do you need 6 saws honey? I am of the mindset, wear out the old one first, and fixing things like hoe and shovel handles rather than buying new..
Wife and I have similar arrangement. We used to discuss purchases over $100. As the years went by, the amount went up. But still, if I'm going to buy something, I tell her just out of courtesy. She does the same. We kind of keep an account balance in our head, but even that is unnecessary at this stage in our life. About the only reason I ever go to the financial institution is to pick my wife up for lunch.... she works there.

I can't buy a gift for her without her knowing I took some money out of the account or charged something.

One day I bought a candy bar out of a vending machine and 5 minutes later she texted me asking what I was eating? :ROFLMAO:

Scored another Echo String Trimmer and Blower…

It was a gift since now illegal to operate in my city.

Amazing what folks get rid of.
Gotta love California. Don't have the manpower or budget to catch thieves or investigate property crime, but they'll send a SWAT team if you try to use a gas string trimmer or put something recyclable in the trash.

Low lying fruit. They go after people who A) aren't professional criminals and aren't wired to buck the system.
B) Have money to pay the fines which help support the law enforcement.

It costs them a lot to keep the crooks locked up so they don't want to do that. But they like to hand out easy to collect fines like their graffiti fines they impose on property owners when some vandal spray paints their property. Or they don't lock up shoplifters and vagrants which causes retail businesses to shutter their stores, but then want to impose vacancy taxes when their sales tax collections decline because the stores are shuttered.

Most all of us have had financial rough times in the past. And probably do things by habit. So the question is;

What is a "poor people" habit you'll never stop doing, no mater how rich you get?

I just have water at a restaurant.
If I see a penny, I will pick it up off the ground.
And many more.
One time a man spotted a quarter on the ground, he took out his wallet and threw a $10 bill on the ground. When asked why he did that, he said " you don't think I'd bend over just to pick up a quarter did you?"
Really; yes I stop and pick up a penny. One time I stopped to pick up trash, a white envelope was there too and I picked that up. It felt heavy for an envelope so I looked inside, where I discovered $300 in cash.

Earlier this year as I arrived at work I picked up some trash to put in the parking lot trash urn.

In the urn was three $100 bills and four $50 bills totaling $500

I reported it to leadership and was told to keep it as it was in the trash.

Later that day a nurse reported $500 stolen from her locker… she was going to Western Union to wire money after work.

I asked her to retrace her steps… out of the car, tossed a Starbucks into the trash and changed for work.

She said three $100 and four $50 stolen…

Anyway, my windfall was not to be as I said I found this cash in the trash… and I was glad nothing was stolen… we are fortunate in not having an employee theft problem.

I too will stop to pick up a penny. The best money find for me was when going through an automated gate where almost everyone that lived in the complex used a remote, I had to stop my truck to use a key to get in. I noticed two $100.00 bills that were glued to the wet pavement by having hundreds of cars run over them. Of course I looked for more but not finding any, proceeded to park inside and get the job done. A week later, I was called back to do another job there. When stopping to open the gate with a key, I of coursed looked down, only to find another #100.00 bill plastered into the pavement. My tire must have been on it the previous week. Backing up didn't reveal anymore. I remember it was my previous work truck so it was previous to 1990, a lot of money.

I found a dollar in an empty cigarette pack in a vacant lot once. :ROFLMAO:

Leaving work one day walking to the parking lot I found a really pretty gold necklace with green stones in the alley. The next day at work I sent out a blanket email just saying I found a piece of jewelry in the alley and if you can identify it, it's yours. Almost immediately a woman described it to a T so I got it back to her. She and her husband had just returned from an overseas anniversary vacation and it was the fist day she wore it.

The next day I found a large gift basket on my desk with fruit, candy and some gift cards, etc... :)

Growing up it was just water now days I get unsweetened tea since it helps my stomach. I rarely very rarely get a soda of any kind, those are seen as treat. I still fix stuff versus buying new but I'm starting to get tired of it. It seems I spend alot of time fixing stuff and no actual work, hence why I bought the brand new tractor. The only work I want to do it is modifications.
