I will say that these little Iseki engines do start hard ... Especially when below freezing ... Even in the summer, mine cranks a bit and then starts with a puff of black smoke on start up after hitting the glow plugs, but that's the only time it smokes ... My Kubota I don't think even gets a full revolution and it's running!

Sounds like poor quality fuel ... I'd try some of that "Everyday" I linked above ...
same here, but my GC2400 is 15 years old. if not running for some time I hit glow plugs a few seconds.

My 1720 always does a puff of black smoke.
In a somewhat temp controlled garage so not hard to start and maybe 10-20 seconds on glow if below 50.
During winter, if it's outside, maybe 2x 20 seconds on glow then it starts with a few seconds of spinning up.

I gave mine about 15 seconds of glow plugs, then it fired up with a puff of black smoke today, 85° in the barn ... Always has since new, 685+ hours on it now ... Once warmed up, no glow, but still puffs!

Got another 300 gallons of water out to the trees today . . .

By the spec sheet the Massey will out lift a BX ... My 42" forks are rated for 4,000 pounds (all I could source at the time!)

But they're heavy!

Bought the Massey a present:

That looks heavy, does it still have the power to lift some decent weight?
Forks+frame 325 pounds, supposed to be able to lift 4000.
I only will be doing large branches to keep within the actual MF lifting limit though.

The loader capacity is what I was referring to.

At 325# looks like you can lift about 500-600 lbs., with those forks, give or take.

Less, if the load is on the tips of the forks. Because it could tip.

I'm wondering how useful that ends up being, in actual conditions?

My GC is a 2610 TLB I made my own brackets that use forks as well as other things. My semi quick attach with forks weighs about 50 lbs. and still wish I could lift more. No, my forks aren't adjustable but they fit all pallets I've tried them with and had no problems with other things due to the spacing. I tested each fork to 1000 lbs. before construction. Those forks need a bigger machine but if they do the needed work they are OK.
