That must have been some vibrator.

That kind of capacitor is a Christmas capacitor- Noel. In other words, a flux capacitor but without the "l". Best I can explain in a family-friendly way.

I rented an apartment in a house in a Detroit suburb in 1969 and they had one similar to that there.

I still like the bitter burnt flavor the wires leave.
Use it from time to time.

It only toasts one face?

We had an old Kenmore or Frigidaire pop-up, but with steel casing and elements on both sides of two slices.

My Mother has one like this, you toast one side then flip it around to toast other side.
She uses a pop-up toaster from the 50s now.

We had the sort that went over the stove burner. Pre electric. ;-)
