Any and every thing we humans create has had some deadly consequences. Part of the price of progress. AI happens to be on center stage at the moment, and in a big way due to its potential huge effect on our lives.
We didn't stop using electricity after someone was electrocuted. In fact, we are quite used to the word "electrocuted" , yet it didn't exist before electrification.

I hope this comes true mainly in the gubmit sector and health care. Might be great for reducing costs. Reduced costs could usher in lower taxes. So much needless manpower waste in our government. What is it, something like 1 in 10 people in the USA are employed by gubmit?
In the private sector I don’t really see it being that big of a cause for unemployment. I’d be more concerned with robotics than AI?

I don’t doubt what you’re saying, just trying to balance it with optimism in other areas.

Robotics and AI are intertwined, if we lowly laypersons can think of a way humans will be displaced by these, most likely such is already being perfected in a lab somewhere.

No. I’m simply trying to help the quivering weenies realize there’s much more dangerous things out there than AI.
Some other more dangerous things than AI:
Open borders
Nefarious Deep state operators
Unregulated labs experimenting with viruses
Dictators with unregulated nuclear weapons

Be very afraid! But those are vague generalities. Boo!

You didn't list what's happening in DC etc, right now. There's the dangerous thing of this moment.

In summary Zuckerberg's Meta offers imaginary friends to the desperately lonesome. While the quality of advice, 'friendship' baked in to this version of AI is harming a lot of people. They're far worse off compared to never heard of it. The 'celebrity girlfriend' scams are tame. compared to this.

We can laugh at their stupidity but the kinder thing would be to help them find fellowship. Ar at least talk them out of their delusions.

This is the future, if more people live their life entirely online and never interact with their local peers.

It sounds bizarre to me but that article above includes people who have raunchy (or worse ) interactions with AI bots, that they are madly in love with. And this includes unmonitored bot interactions with minors. Lots of lonesome folks clutching at anything that responds!

There are some strange people out there. And Zuckerberg etc are swarming them, like vultures. We can laugh at these fools but some of them are in situations where they can harm themselves or others.
