Lage technology companies have been laying off tens of thousands.
They write the code that eliminates their own jobs.
Also, to be fair... When trying to reduce inflation, the FED raises interest rates. Part of "cooling the economy" includes higher unemployment. That is sort of a side effect of the thing we intentionally did.
Now the question is, did the Fed wait too long to reduce rates? Are they in part to blame for increased unemployment that was unnecessary? People will debate that.
In either case, as a wise man once said, "just learn to code"

AI company CEOs say they expect to see 10-30% unemployment in a few years. So, I mean, some folks think we are over-employed. We may have higher employment than we will ever have again. Think about that.
