Now what if they walk right behind my shooting range or spook a buck for me to shoot? They would not park here with the dogs out but who will keep the dogs off them if they spook the livestock?
Trespassing can be dangerous even if no one is intending harm. We just had a guy laying out a plan for the TelCo trapped on the roof of his truck by 3 giant dogs. He drove in, up near the pasture and got out before the pack caught up after I let them out. They bark inside, I open door
Nothing a knock and talk would not have prevented.
I have no problem letting crews do their job, but I don't read minds and look around MY place to avoid scaring people I did not permit.

I say my gates and door are closed (not locked) for your protection not mine.

Does Amazon, FedEx or UPS make deliveries at your house?

Couldn't you reasonably have their vehicle towed away? If I show up to my home with a random locked vehicle there, and no one around to explain it, is the burden really on me to find out who it is and what right they have to be there?

What if its a stolen vehicle that's been dumped? (that actually happened in my driveway once, suspects were considered armed and dangerous and were fleeing police after not getting away cleanly). My wife called police before I could get home from work, and the police called for it to be towed after investigating the vehicle/scene.
Maybe however I'm really not trying to be a total a****** here. I simply want them to get permission ahead of time in the future if they're going to access my property for convenience. We have about 80 acres here if someone's out walking it I would like to know If they continue to have the attitude that they can do whatever they want and not notify me then in that case I feel like it's my right to inform them what the statute on access actually says which does not include a convenience clause.

Yup and the dogs know the trucks....now let them drive past the house and the chase is on..... New drivers learn that quick

The dogs are not people aggressive but protect the livestock. No reason for anyone to be in the pastures without permission or drive by the house to the back. Not like is a a little city lot, you have 12 acre lake to go around.

I like the sign I read once at the entrance to a long driveway, it was worded something like this:

When the dogs approach, lay face down on the ground with your hands clasped behind your head until help arrives. Do not move as that will trigger the pack to attack. Help will eventually arrive however it my take sometime, during this time it will give a chance to think about why you trespassed.

That sign sure made me think I have no business going down that driveway without the owners permission.

He said they pulled in, two guys got out, walked around my house through the backyard and into the corn field.

I’m trying to put myself in your story/shoes, but it doesn’t make sense to me.
You say your neighbor is 3/4 mile away. It makes no sense the crew would be walking around your house, unless they knocked, or were looking for someone to talk to.

Secondly, you only seemed pissed that you didn’t get notified first. You’ve made no mention of being bothered or even being slightly worried that this property line survey could change your boundaries . That’s odd. They’re walking around your house, and assessing a boundary that, I’m guessing is your boundary too, and you didn’t even ask the company on the phone, the reason for the survey and how it might impact you?
That would be my much bigger concern, but that’s just me…

Yikes. That sure makes you think alright.

Personally I do not care what the neighbors do to or with their property. I have no control there just like they have none over what I do on mine.
If the mine co that owns all the mineral rights here want to drill a hole, they do. I can control how the access or transit my property.
Lots of surveying to locate drill holes here.

You understand, their boundaries with you, are your boundaries with them, right? You should care

Just my guess but I would presume he meant they walked around and "past" his house to get where they were going, not just circling around for no reason.

Ideally and presumably, JK knew his property lines well upon his own purchase. If a new team of professional surveyors wants to re-stake the lines around by a few feet on 80 acres, it really doesn't matter, right?
