Fall garden is in the ground, although the ground is like talcum powder. I been hand watering. One a few dozen plants. Rain is expected for the next 4-5 days. HOPE SO...

Got my ground tilled up for some strawberry plants I'm putting in (250-500). Me and my nephew went in on 500. If he doesn't want all of them, I'm going to plant the rest. Each one oughta produce about 2#. If so that's a lotta strawberries. I do this ever few years for our family. When they are ripe I assign every two days a different person to pick. If they miss an opportunity they go to the back of the line. It's pretty common to get about 20-30# in a pick. We only pick the fully red ones for best flavor. We usually freeze ours and that lasts us a few years.

Got a decent row of snaps producing, but they are really wanting some rain. Late okra was a bust. Summer squash and zucchini are blooming.

Average, with theft, is $3.45/pumpkin.

Probably not worth my effort to continue offering this service.

Wife and I cleaned out the greenhouse for winter. Picked the last of the Roma tomatoes and some hot peppers. Planted more everbearing strawberry runners into the strawberry barrel and topped it off with soil, manure and peat moss.

Next to do is move the flower planters that we want to overwinter into the greenhouse and bury in the dirt to overwinter.

We were gone for a week and came back to a bunch of blooming asters. Nice surprise.

Just got these 350 strawberry plants Saturday. I picked up 550 and split them with my nephew.

Waiting for the weather to clear this wee and put them in the ground. These are Chandler, I prefer Sweet Charlie but couldn't get them this year. Thankful I got these.

Already lining up the laborers. I don't sell these to the public, it's a family thing. BUT... Everyone needs skin in the game. Soooo I asked those that want to pick this spring to come out and participate with the planting. This in turn gives them 2 days to pick sometimes maybe more. Since we enjoy each others company it goes fast and everyone gets to see the work involved.

We are trying to raise a few cucumbers in a couple of pots for those last ditch salad toppings.

Also we are trying an indoor salad "farm" Several trays under lights in our seed starting room. Never really thought about it until as we watched a "hoss tools" video. We have everything, just hadn't thought to try winter lettuces in the house. Hoping it goes as well as our seedlings have gone. Wifey has a pretty green thumb with those.

Our much needed rain is here. PTL...

Good luck with the indoor garden. Every time I've tried that I get red aphids. No idea where they come from (I know, mom and dad aphid, yada yada). So now I only start indoors in late winter, but get them out of there before I get that problem.
