Coffee is done brewing. 29° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 54° with plenty of sun. My plan of cleaning up shop and pole barn got off track. Found an unfinished project in shop. More cleanup needed in shop. But project is finished and cleaned up. Did get out Trac-Vac and make sure it is ready for leaf pickup. All is good. Need to collect all the items that might freeze and move them to cellar today. Then some NASCAR in afternoon.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

good Sunday morning all
40 out now going up into 60's
only plans for today are a family brunch at nephew's farm locally as oldest brother's
son and new wife coming up from DC to visit. I went and got a big bag of apples for them
yesterday.

I do have a birthday present to wrap for nephew's daughter. Something odd, but I never give cash, always
want to do something personal. And based on a recent conversation with this 12 year old girl, who said she only liked
white sauces, which struck me as unfortunate since her grandmother is part Italian and makes an awesome red sauce.
So...in a hopeful teaching moment, and to get her interested in cooking and not just clicking on an app button, I searched and
got 8 different small bottles of different white sauces, the different cheese sauces, etc. Even found a really Southern "Big Bob's"
barbecue white sauce. Whole idea is for her to have fun with her mother cooking different dishes together.
I'm taking a chance she will not be the slightest bit interested. It's not so easy to figure out what is going on in the head of today's
12 year olds, in this case one born with a broadband silver spoon in her mouth. Hoping she will learn cooking and some independence and not just rely on her mother to do all the cooking. So that's the plan. May be a big swing and a miss.
and not sure Bearnaise sauce is a kid's first choice.

but I like to remember that Mickey Mantle only hit one out of three...so you have to swing.

depressing visit with landlady yesterday. She went to Sweden for the summer, got sicker, had to come home, found out
her cancer had spread, just finishing four courses of chemo and on a 80+ year old lady, was really beating her up.
We walked a little and she held on tight, checking out all my roses. I had thought she was in Sweden where she had come home months earlier
and been really sick. Her visit yesterday was first time out of her house in a month and she was determined to see some roses. An avid gardener,
she says she always slows down going past my home because the flowers always look so nice.

yesterday's post was held up due to moderator review, took a while to get approved. I'm not sure if it was the term "blacks" or "Jews" that rang the review buzzer. I almost deleted that sentence, it wasn't provocative at all, but left it to see what happened. It stuck and was approved.
Attaboy moderators, though I wonder if the little "you are under review" note will now pop up for using those terms again.
makes you wonder how long the no no list is. Seeing that list would sure make for some interesting discussion but not here.

42 going to 60.

BEF, hope that train ride was a good one. We still haven't done the Crozet trip, just the Goshen...and in December we're taking our GD on the Santa Express.

Don, I guess the farm rarely gets that sort of rain so that's why no drainage/ditch system, but hope it wasn't too messy for the crowds.

Scotty, looks like your NYC trip was fun...toy stores!

Finished up the brush and small tree clearing I have been working on along the road. Another 6 grapple loads and nearly 6 hours of chainsaw and loppers. I wanted to finish before the forecasted rains come in this week.

Good morning, the low is 29 and going up to 45°F. Wind N 3 mph. Sunny!

Today is 'muck out the cats day', I'll get the tractor going about 1 P.M. and get that done. The hardest part is taking the litter trays out of the bathroom and dumping them into the loader bucket. That is juniors part of the job. He is the one buying the litter and food, too.

Speaking of blacks and Jews, over my lifetime I have had 4 black cars. Does that count for blacks?
When I was in my 20s and 30s I worked for 5 guys that owned a gravel pit and 25 dump trucks. The 5 guys were all Jews. Nicest people I have ever worked for. All the trucks except for 4 were gassers. The 4 diesels were all semi-trucks. One was an A train. (A trains are what you Americans call 'doubles').

Just about time to get on with my day.

Have a safe day all

Good Tractor Morning,
Ct, 40 to start going to 55. Looks to be a nice fall day.
Got home from NYC last night totally pooped, we did a lot of walking. I believe we got home sometime after 8pm. I was in bed by 9:30. Feel Ok this morning but that was a long day.

I had been surfing EBay for weeks and have been looking at a vintage Ham Radio receiver. A Drake R4C, I put a bid in on it yesterday for $400 and won the bid, so it looks like I will be the owner of a Drake receiver. I have wanted one for a long time, and hopefully it works out well.

Will be headed to church service shortly. After that, not really sure what I will be doing.

Hope all have a blessed day 🙏

Morning all!
Currently 30 going to low 50's.
New hose installed on the leaf vac and numerous trips made around the yard. Still more to do but they are finlly slowing down.
Two tons of pellets showed up yesterday. Got them unloaded and stacked into the garage. Speaking of pellets we fired up the stove for the first time this season. Nice and warm in here right now! We only plan on running it weekends and really cold spells this year. Oil is way cheaper to use right now.
Neck shots were done Thursday. Seem to be helping! So far I'm just experiencing a dull pain. Much better than before.

Mother in law ended up in the emergency room this week. Congestive heart failure up to stage 3. Sent home after several hours receiving treatment. She will go see the specialist in a few days. Lot's of family and medical drama is playing on my wife's nerves! Both of her parents are failing health wise.
Glad we did the trip to Kentucky as it gave her a few days away from all the stress. Would be nice if her sister started helping instead of causing trouble!
Not much in the shop this week. New boxes of wood coming in though! Did manage to make myself a new mallet out of some Argentinian hard wood I was given from an online friend.

Made a Christmas ornament for an online exchange. No pic yet. Also started on a large cherry burl dish but only got the outside roughed in so far.
We are hosting the family monthly coffee next week so I need to get another batch of oatmeal raison cookies in the oven. Probably not today though. Yesterday was a good enough production to warrant a day off.
We will see how bored I get or what comes up.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
