I could never understand the allure of pellet stove, I always assumed it was that they were less expensive to operate than the central heat source. If it’s more expensive, why bother with it?
They were once way less expensive, which is why I switched to one years ago. But Pellet prices have continued to climb, as there isn't much competition in the field. Plus a lot easier to deal with, and cleaner than woodstoves.

I was thinking in terms of a conventional central heating system, such as oil, gas, propane, heat pump, etc.
Doesn’t get much easier than setting a thermostat.

I get heating with wood if you have an abundant free supply, or if its for a cabin. I do burn wood, but for amusement and ambiance, not really for heat.

Home from VA trip. Had to detour once over to Rt11 due to backups on I81.
I heard the 611 broke down on it's trip today, didn't hear what broke. People been posting great photo's of it on FB.
Here was when I rode:

Concerning when to paint lines on new asphalt, I've noticed on our parking lot, there are cracks in the asphalt under every parking spot line. Somehow the paint has caused cracks, as it doesn't have cracks elsewhere.

mine is supplemental for our family room, instead of a fireplace. geothermal heat pumps still the primary, but the pellet stove pretty much keeps the lower level geo from running much in the winter. There are central pellet furnaces available. I went to Geothermal after oil went over $4 gallon years ago, but now with the increases in electric prices, nothing is cheap.

Happy in NC; at least the dog was protecting the cat. ;)

Pacific Energy pellet stoves do NOT like unreliable electricity, brown outs and spikes. Ask me how I know.

Cat mucking detail all done and tractor full of fuel ready for the first snowfall. Tomorrow I need to top off the house oil tank, it is half full. I'll jam it right full. Daytime temps are in the mid to high 40s, so no worries about the oil expanding especially when the tank is on the north side of the house.
I filled it almost full by the gauge in mid September and it is almost 1/2 gone, so time to fill 'er up. 238 US gallon tank.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 4C and it's presently 10.3C, mostly cloudy with a stiff Southerly wind (up from the Antarctic). There was 3.5mm in the gauge @0900.
I'll probably have to put the woodheater on for tomorrow as the last 'hurrah' for Winter is predicted.
^ which has happened.

Ta for everyone's concern regarding this annoying cold of mine. It 'broke' last evening. Good night's sleep and just a stiff neck to contend with now.

I've got to get out there and pay another visit to the PO, then prepare Paddock #5 for the return of the Mad Agisting Horse Woman (and Daughter)'s horses. Mostly that'll be setting up the water trough.

That's about it, take care all.
