Another one that I just dealt with, is magazines that send you renewal notices whether your subscription will soon run out or not. Some don't print the expiration date on the mailing labels, but some do. I got a renewal notice for Sky and Telescope, and I looked back and had renewed it only a few months ago, but there is no expiration date on the mailing label. So I called them today, and I am paid up until April of 2028 and a gift subscription I send to a friend is paid until April of 2027.
I guess I'm going to have to keep a card on my desk with the expiration dates of all the magazines I subscribe to on it and update it as I renew them.
I suppose that they make more money off people like me than they spend on mailing out all the notices.
I'm up to 8 renewal notices for the Wife's People mag. subscription so far this year. It doesn't expire until Feb. of 2026.

I always print the expiration date (and the term I renewed for) in the checkbook under the Mag name in the notation column so I can flip back and check if they send one of those notices without an exp. date.

I don't have many mag. subs. now, but when I did, I also highlighted the payment info. in the checkbook so I could find them easier.

The one mag. subs I have has the date it expires on the shipping label.
No alarm clock the get up, just at daylight. I am usually awake before then.
Retired and love it.

Peeve: virtue signaling thru bumper stickers. I don’t need the driver behind me to know my religion or who I voted for, and I most certainly don’t care about yours!

Agree 100%, but I have to admit, I admire their moxie. I'd be afraid of having the crap keyed out of my car or having my house burned down due to someone knowing too much about me.

Don't see that much anymore. Pretty much limited to hard core at one end of the political spectrum or the other.

Don't look now, but that's only a couple months away.
I'd imagine it's a tough go these days for magazine publishers, probably want to get subscribers locked in well in advance.

Dying industry. I haven’t subscribed to a paper magazine in at least 20 years, maybe 25!

e-Digests are easier to pull up when you have that unexpected break to read, in a waiting room or stuck somewhere, no need to remember to carry your magazines with you!

While am no Luddite, I have tried reading e-mags and e-books, but really prefer paper versions. They are a lot easier to page through to look up something I previously read, don't need to be recharged, don't have screen glare.
And if I happen to drop it, it won't break.
When Hot Rod magazine went digital, I tried reading articles for a few months, but finally gave up, it was too much hassle.
I probably buy and read a couple of books a month, mostly space opera and science themes like cosmology and astronomy. Last summer I donated 10 banker's boxes full of books to a local book reseller, they were really happy to get them. You can't do that with e-books.

Ditto here. OK, maybe I am a bit if a Luddite. :DThere's something about holding a book in my hands rather than trying to read it on my phone. There are books which I keep becauae I may want to read it again, as well as several dog training books which I'm referring back to often right now.
It's also getting harder and harder to get paper copies of our state hunting and fishing lawbooks; and the latter is so confusing even ln paper that I've all but given up fishing.
It's also a lot easier to point out a law to somebody who only thinks they know what they are talking about... a situation I've been in a couple of times.

All the political signs, sometimes 20 or more on each corner.
You know they just go in the garbage after the election.
So many and so ugly to see.

I read on a kindle, it is self lighting and I can change font size if needed.
