You Know You Are Old When

As a kid in the Bronx, we used to jump those! You take a running start put your hands on the top of the meter and go for it!!!
And every 14 year old boy found it just beyond hilarious, when their buddy failed to "clear" one, and face planted off the top of the thing.

I grew up in a small town, in the Philly 'burbs, but we had meters in the town center.

I must be, also. First I'd have to start carrying my phone.
Kind of like when we go to the grocery store and have to clip all of the digital coupons. At checkout they tell you something like "You saved $45 dollars today". It makes me wonder how many people don't try to save money and pay the crazy high prices. I guess we'll keep doing what we can to keep groceries affordable.

We pay the high prices, and don't bother with coupons. When you're self-employed, there's a cost to time. If I want to spend another hour at my desk doing something tedious, I can make much more with that time, chasing another contract job.

I do many things to save money, that are less profitable with my time, like harvesting and processing my own firewood. But that's more in the name of doing something away from my desk, than pure profit motive.

And then you has these;
The Coors can top! Bootleged this side of the Mississippi till the late 70's!
First time I saw one of those my reaction was d@mn, the pulltab's broken off. :ROFLMAO:
Yeah, Coors was considered a special treat here in the northeast back in the 70s. Anyone who was taking a road trip west was taking orders for how much everyone wanted. I don't know if it was really any better beer than Bud, Miller, Schlitz, whatever, but it's rarity made it seem that way.

Speaking of pulltabs, in the early 70s I had a couple friends who decorated (if that's the right word) their apartment with chains made from beer can pull tabs. No soda can tabs allowed!!

Shaws does that here. You need to go online and "reserve" the items you want and then reference an associated phone # at checkout. I find this to be really sleazy, making you jump thru hoops to get advertised sale prices. This is even worse than so-called loyalty cards, at least you don't need to pre-reserve them.
I realy hate these kind of games. If they weren't the only supermarket within an hour+ drive of me, I wouldn't shop there.

It takes about 10-15 minutes at the store to clip the coupons to save $45-50. Nothing is done at home. Add up your time spent posting messages here. I would rather save the money at the store.

My Godfather's wife was originally from Mexerica.
She had family come and visit her from Colorado every summer. They would come to our place for peaches which they claimed were the best in the world.
Laura always gave me a 12 pack of bottled Coor's.
I was underage but my parents were open minded aboot many things as long as I didn't over do it.
I would nurse those bottle for at least 2 months having one for special occasions.
I don't know if it's just my imagination but I think it was better back then.
A cleaner, lighter refreshing taste.
