I think the OP has the right attitude. I commend his understanding and self control. I can't honestly say that I would be so understanding. The OP is obviously a better man (y)

Not for the general welfare of he and his neighbors.

Laws to protect the public were definitely broken here. They vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but I know of noplace in America, where packs of dogs are allowed to roam free onto other private property and kill their pets.

I am not asserting that the OP not forgive the owner of the vicious dogs. I would forgive them. I am asserting that the owners of the dogs be held accountable for their actions, so another “moe” or worse, maybe a small child isn’t killed next time.

Quick related story: Growing up, my neighborhood was safe & peaceful countryside. One family had a vicious german shephard. One day, it attacked one of our neighbors, just out walking his leashed dog along the road. That was incident #1.

Next, I was walking along the road at the age of 9 and it attacked me. I got 60 stitches and my mom had to practically hold my dad back from shooting it. I was inches and a few seconds from being killed. That was incident #2.

Then a man came to the dog owners house. He was called there by them to tow one of their cars away that had a mecanical problem. The same dog attacked the tow truck driver, an elderly guy and gave him over 80 stitches on the shoulder & chest. That was incident #3.

Finally the dog was euthanized.

Just like people, dogs can start showing their signs of viciousness by first attacking pets, then moving onto people. The owners of these dogs need a $$$ penalty and a strong warning to keep their dogs confined onto their property.

I’m all for forgiveness, but NOT all for letting vicious dogs kill people’s pets….or worse, maybe a child.

I don't much like cat's, even my own however; I would be very upset if a stray dog killed her.

In this case dj1701 called the dogs over not realizing the dogs were going to attack his cat so I think that's different. Sort of like good deeds don't always turn out like you expect.

No good deed goes unpunished?
