What's your average mpg?

I guess I don't care enough about what my actual mpg really is, but the once or twice I did roughly check mine over the course of a tank, they were always closer than the finance department required.
True, if i cared about milage I wouldn't buy a truck and I'd still be driving my fusion at 28mpg. I wouldn't mind better with my truck but whatever...

I care about mileage. A lot. But I haven't found anything that will haul or carry a lot of weight and still get 30 mpg. So I have to own trucks.

My Ram 3500 gets such great mileage that I added a 46 gallon auxiliary tank to its factory 74 gallons.

It generally gets between 5 and 10 mpg depending on what it's towing. That's 98% highway, with a little Interstate every now and then.

Diesel, stock? What are you towing and all mountains? That's the lowest I've ever heard of if it's a diesel, and I know quite a few that hotshot or haul cars with 3500 Rams and never get below 12.

Yep, all stock (except for tires, headlights, etc.). Towing varies between different trailers and loads, from about 8,000 to 25,000 lbs.

It's not all mountain roads, but I have no choice but to drive them coming or going here in the Rockies. Still, one of the lowest mpg averages was coming back from Reno, NV, and on that trip only about 15% of the 1,025 mile drive was dealing with longer and steeper grades. That was also at a full 39,000 GCVWR, maybe a bit over.

It's not uncommon to see the gauge read 25 gallons per hour being used, and I suspect that it's all the injectors can flow as I've never seen that number exceeded.

Another thing that may factor in is that I hand calculate all fill-ups rather than pick occasional nice numbers seen on the Lie-O-Meter to suit the argument. Plus I tend to drive a bit on the fast side, so just passing someone on a 2-laner puts a noticeable dent in the average numbers.
