How are your investments doing?

Again, you owe them nothing. ;) It's a business arrangement. You work. They pay. Fair deal for both parties. When it's over, it's over.

Now if you WANT to stay, that's different. But if you're wanting to retire, and can do it at your personal level of desired comfort, do it now.

We had a guy retire at 60 just this past June. We found out he died last week. Fell down some stairs and broke his neck, died 3 days later.

Wife and I both have 18 months left..... they've asked us both to stay if we want. We like them and all, but no way. We're out here. 😛
Moss Road,

Same here, 18 months and I'm gone. They are asking if I can stay on for the fun part of my job, traveling to Europe every few months.

I have really liked working for my company. Everyone asks, "you have worked from a home office for 20+ years, traveled the globe and often with my wife. Great pay and benefits. Why quit?" Because I have other things to do.

OK, what software or firm is getting you the snazzy charts? They doing the alerts too?
Stockcharts.com

I have been using them for over 20 years. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but I have been partial and loyal to them.

To get alerts, you will have to pay for the premium service.

Nice!

My wife and I have always viewed our jobs as a way to get money to do the things we want to do when we're not working. :ROFLMAO:

We've been fortunate with good health and steady employment. Warm, dry house. Good food. Great educations for our children, etc... close to her folks and family. NO debts since 1995. Very fortunate.

We don't have a need to work anymore. So everything gets tied up in a bow in early 2027.

1995 is great… my only debt is mortgage and I’m ok with that as the last payment date nears.

Very old school upbringing… no cash in hand means I can’t afford it…

My current job was to end in 1995 when the new center was up and running… asked to stay and 30 years later still here.

It does come with some benefits such as getting family and friends seen and treated through the Docs I’ve come to know… the odd thing is many retired early during the pandemic so Ive been here long enough to see a few start and retire…

Had I stayed the picking up an investment property every 12-18 months my net worth would be greater I’m certain.

If it were me, I'd be nice enough to give them maybe 6-12 months notice that my last day will be X. That gives them more than enough time to hire a replacement and let you train them.

Two things I won’t miss is getting up at 3 am for 4 am start and call ins.

I will miss the people I work with and the patients… after so many years I really am the holder of Institutional Knowledge… and the respect that comes with that.

Some companies have great employee stock plans and I know a few that did well with Columbia HCA stock with a built in savings for employee purchases.
