Basically same issue, but with a couple twists. I can't get the top link to settle into the groove because the U piece for the top link of ny bushhog isn't wide enough to clear the edges of the QH. I also have the hook of the QH on the top bolt holes so I can't force it any lower. I could possibly grind down the tips of the U to give it a slight clearance? Not sure if that's the right answer though.

I also have almost the same thing with my finishing mower, FDR1672, which allegedly is QH compatible according to the sticker on it, but its U-piece is the same width as the QH. Not sure where to go with this.

I did buy an adaptor off Amazon for the bushhog but it has a poor fit as well. Any ideas welcomed!

Take that U bracket off and replace it with the adapter? Like in the pic..

QH top hooks are notoriously short (all seem to come from one chinese factory) .... You can use funky aftermarket adapter and will work or get "extended" top hook instead of having to get adapter for each implement...

Oyl - The adapter. I think my issue is you are using a cotter pin setup (which might work for me) on the J-hook on the QH whereas the bolts that came with my QH interfere otherwise. It's a cheap idea though so I might try to find a short pin that I could clear with a cotter pin.

Wrangler - I am going to measure that later this morning and see if that gives adequate clearance.

Bruce - I can switch to QH config but I believe the width of the U is still the same width as the J-hook QH bolts so it may not clear. I'm going to look at it again and maybe I'll see something different I didn't see last night.

Thanks, guys!

On my QH with an adjustable top hook, I cut the pins (bolts) off, then puddle welded them in the holes. That provided enough clearance for the top links. Of course, you have to make sure the hook is at the proper height to work for all your attachments before you weld in place.

I also wound up cutting away the unused part of the top link hook bracket for clearance on some attachments.

Here is an adapter I made for one problem implement. The front pin goes through the adapter, the quick hitch and the top link. If the front pin went into the hook, there would be nothing to keep it from bouncing out.

It broke this rule. :D

Just a quick question, I was going to get a quick hitch, but it looks like it will rub the pto shaft on my land pride 2572 finish mower. How close does it get to the to the pto shaft on yours. I currently have the pats system thanks

For now I've ground down the end of the U for the brushhog so I could use it right away. I'll probably have to use the adaptor I bought on the finishing mower but today's goal was to get the bushhog working. Thanks for the suggestions as I now have some options I can look at!

I have both a JD quick hitch (with the fixed upper hook) and a HF with the adjustable upper hook and have had far fewer fitment issues with the one with the fixed upper hook.

The implement A-frame in my diagram, and many implements, has 2 holes at the top. Looking at the diagram, the flex link can be installed in the top hole, then the quick hitch hook connects to a pin in the lower hole, giving a wider space for the hook.

Without two holes in your A-frame, repositioning the flex link and using the two-bar adapter I posted would bypass the hook altogether.

That is because of the distance between QH framework and centerline of hook is correct , something JD may have got right....

I don't see how that's possible?

I did it differently, I took off the hook, hooked the u part of the to the top Link and used the thin end to pin to the attachment . It works great for me and every implement old and new connects fine

I modified my upper hook to extend it. But you can buy them fairly cheap now.
