I have searched the internet and am beat as I can not get my 3 point linkage primed or operating, the pump is pumping as when I slackened the pressure side at the banjo I had an exceptional mess of oil but I can not get it through to lift the arms, the tractor is under load as I can here it on the engine but what ever I do it makes no difference, I have read that they should bleed themselves, this does not seem to be the case on this occasion.

Any recommondations as to how I can get the oil flowing ,

If the pump is under load your pump is working. Sounds like you need find where the connection from pump to 3point location. Some tractors have a block or manifold that can be configured for different options.

I have previously had the top cover off and had it back of today,

I gave the ports a blow through with an air line and can see how when the leaver is moved it diverts the oil to where it needs to go, for some reason it just wont go into the top of the piston a push the arms up, I found a page somewhere mentioning that the relief could be stuck open and oil just circulating round, I don't think mine is doing this though.

This tractor used to have a loader on it with hoses coming out the manifold block beside the 3 point linkage ram, I have now capped these ports, would this be the problem,

Chris I suspect that one of the loader hoses is pressure to the loader, one is the power beyond from the loader to feed the 3point. Third loader hose would be tank. You need to figure out which two hoses that you need to connect together

The loader is no longer attached, I have done some digging this morning, I think I have been fed the wrong information, the manifold I had I was told I could just blank the ports, as all that is on others is a blank plate, I think this is incorrect and the blanking plate has paths for the oil to flow through not visible externally,

On the picture below the red lines show the flow from the pressure side of the pump, coming in on the lower banjo fitting then out at the port directly above,

The green lines then show the flow path needed to get to the 3 point linkage, in on the left side port and coming out in the port in front of the ram,

So when I blanked the ports on the manifold the pump was either deadheading or reliefing back into the rear end of the tractor,

Can I pipe the 2 top ports or do I need to have a return in the centre port also, I am not sure of the set up with this power beyond which is mentioned earlier and what I have read up on,

Thanks Chris

All you should have to do is get the pump flow going to 3 point valve. The 3 point valve should direct the oil to tank if not being commanded to raise.

If you still have the loader covers they should also provide an idea on the flow was directed/ supplied to the FEL & then back to 3 point

Yes, thanks for your help, having found a manual/parts book, the photo below shows that the 2 ports are connected, well I am assuming that making an educated guess, but that's the only way it will work, the blank plate has 2 O-rings so they must be tied together giving flow to the 3 point linkage,

Do you have the hose and fittings to connect the two ports on the cover is your post #5. From your description that should get you operating.

The remains of the hoses were attached to a spool valve which I have not worked out how its piped in yet, but I have made up the pipework and the 3 point linkage is now working,

It just manages to tuck inside the leaver for raising and lowering the 3 point linkage,

Now I know how the system works I can in the future work out how the spool valve is piped in.

Thanks

Chris,
Glad that you have it working properly and appreciate the feedback so that everyone knows what the solution to this problem was.
