2013 Kioti CK30HST FEL/BH
Ok I'm a newbie, I've been looking in the Hydraulics Forum and haven't been able to find anything as of yet so here is my question I have a CK30HST with 12 hours on it and been using the backhoe mostly, It seems to work fine but after about an hour or so I start to smell odor of grease/hydraulic oil and the cylinders on the boom and dipper are very hot almost to the point of not being able to lay your hand on them for very long. I've checked the other cylinders and they seem to me to be normal warm but not hot. I've looked for leaks and checked the level of hyd oil and all seems to be normal. I called my local dealer where I bought the tractor and after the 3rd guy that I talked to said he has no clue and to just run it as long as the hoe doesn't hick-up. My thing is this I don't want to burn anything up.
The dealer said it shouldn't hurt anything and they would look at it when I bring it in for the free 50hr. service. I just wish they weren't so far away (50 miles)
If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Harley.

Welcome to TBN.
What year is your CK-30? Manufacture date, not sale date?
What is the routing of your hydraulic lines to your rear remote connectors to the backhoe? Does one line from the hoe go to the hydraulic fill port at the back of the tractor or do both lines go directly to a rear remote, (QD stacked females?).
I can't recall if the CK series has the ability to run the return line to the hydro pump's fill port, but if it does I'd start there with the kit that comes with the hoe, that unfortunately a lot of dealers don't seem to install. Others here with CK series can verify this option for you. It shouldn't be any cost to you since the tractor/hoe are brand new. Post back results.
Who's your dealer?

I recently purchased a DK40 and had them install the kit for the return line to go straight to the fill port. I was shocked to find that the dealer had no clue about it and even more shocked to find that one of the technicians in his shop actually tried to talk me out of it. I even decided to call around and ask a few other shops about the kit and was amazed that other shops didn't install the kit as well.
I would look threw the owners book to see if its an option then call the dealer and ask why it wasn't installed and why you were not informed of the kit or why you were not given the parts to install it yourself if desired!

My dealer's mechanic asked me if I was going to leave the backhoe on, or mostly use other 3pt attachments. He suggested that the kit would be better if the backhoe were heavily utilized, but not installing the kit was better if the backhoe were not used often but other hydraulic attachments would be used. Not sure why he thinks that, I haven't looked at it enough.

But he did admit the hydraulics will run cooler with the kit installed.

Install the kit, it is very easy to take off the fitting to use the fill port.

Murph, I have to admit it is only because of this forum that I knew the issue existed! I made sure they gave me the kit since I've read it is a pretty easy install. I won't be using the backhoe heavily for a few months, so plenty of time to get that done. Having their mechanic install the kit would have delayed the delivery and I just couldn't stand it!

Take a before and after pic to help you out.

I may be slow, but I'm learning. I have to do that or no one here on TBN will believe I did it!

Seems the kit is available for your CK series tractor. Have your dealer install it at the 50 hour service. This should solve the overheating, and cost you $0 since it comes with the backhoe and should have been installed to begin with. Post back results.

Yes, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I agree with this.
