MX series R4 tire width & filled rears

I'll have the rears filled & set to either the furthest width spacing or the next one in.

Unless max wheel width prohibits use of a trailer, space wheels as wide as possible.

Even with filled rear tires a dealer can jack up the tractor rear and change spread of rear wheels later, if needed. Dealers have to deal with filled tires routinely.

It was stated that a new operator wouldn't be cognizant of a tractor's impending imbalance and potential rollover, especially when operating on an incline. Disagree, in that it is likely a new operator would be overly sensitive to all changes in tractor geometry, no matter how slight.

Owner's manual should offer the wheel spacing options. Rim Guard is reputed to be superior ballast. But realize that the intention is counterbalance. With the recommended volume is at 75 percent, 25 percent is above the tractor center of gravity. A low slung ballast box MIGHT offer superior hillside stability.. just a thought.

Coolbrze, you wanted some pics of our MX5800 front and back. Here you go: The first pic is obviously the view from the rear.

The next two pics show a rear wheel from the inside and the outside. Hopefully you can see how the rims are set all the way out.

The next pic is the view from the front, as you requested.

Thanks rbtjr! Tires are mounted the furthest setting out & width is 78" correct?

Correct about both. The tread where the tires hit the ground is about 77" because the tires are a little rounded at the outside edges. The sidewalls of the tires are about 78" or a td more, and that is the measurement I would use for purposes of buying a trailer.

If you need any more info about our MX5800 let me know.

Be aware that the brand of R4 tires Kubota shods its tractors with varies. Therefore the outside-to-outside tire width may be a little different.

You will need either an 8' or 9' Landscape Rake. Probably 8'. Optimum rake with will be partly determined on your drive layout. I know there is a math formula for determining the third dimension of a triangle, when two dimensions are known and the key angle is 45 degrees. Or someone with a tractor with 78" tires spacing will guide you.

I suggest posting details of rear tire spacing and your driveway in the Landscape Rake thread you have open.

I hope that your loader bucket is 80-84 inches in width with that type of tire spacing.

We have a 72" 4N1 bucket on our MX5800 and don't miss it being wider. However, if and when I buy a typical general purpose bucket it will be 78".

I I have removed and manhandled my rear tires filled with Rim guard. It is cumbersome/potentially dangerous but it is doable. I used a engine hoist and ratchet straps. If at some point you need more information you will be able to find it on TBN or through a PM to me.

I concur that you should set them to as wide as possible, fill with rim guard, and ballast with at least another thousand pounds on the 3pth for loader use.

Your gonna have a beat of a machine! Congrats.
