Manuals for a Lull 7C2-31 rough terrain forklift

Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on service manuals for a Lull 7C2-31? This one is from the early 70's and I am not sure what base machine they used (some were Olivers). I am looking at buying it but I will need to do some brake work and other maintenance so am hoping to find a good...

Deconstructing a BIG timber frame next weekend.

If anyone is within driving distance of Lyndeborough, NH feel free to stop by (you can even help too ) next weekend as we take apart my big barn. Don't worry - it will be getting repaired (and a number of timbers replaced) before we put it back up in 2 years. LOTS of tractor time on this...

Freeing a locked up miter saw

I've got a Delta miter saw that I had left tilted over the winter. When I went to use it the other day it felt as if the shaft lock was engaged I was able to confirm that was not the case and suspect something in the brake circuit but it is locked no matter what I do. (Large rubber mallets...

Fair price for a used trailer?

I'm looking at a '97 Blair gooseneck trailer, 20' + 4' beaver tail, rated at 14,400 lbs. in fair to good condition. Any idea what a decent price is? Only one jack in the center front (most trailers I've looked at have 2). Will be using it to haul L5030 HSTC as well as cribbing and steel.

    Cabalicious L5030 Time

I've been away from TBN for awhile - too many projects! My L3710 just doesn't have the loader power I need these days and when I bought up the subject with the COE (Chief Of Everything - and she gave the go-ahead. Sooo, sometime next week I will be sitting in a nice new L5030 HSTC. I wanted...

    Timber Framing time again

Just a few pics from my latest project. The Timber Framer's Guild built this hammer-beam frame during the last 2 weeks at the Russell-Colbath Hoestead on the Kancamangus highway in the White mountain National Forest, NH. We had a 25 KW deisel generator on-site for power (no AC in that section...

Turnover Ball Hitch - has anyone used this?

I am looking at a Turnover Ball Hitch for our on-order 5th wheel travel trailer and (down the road) a goosneck trailer for the tractor. Have any of you used this type of hitch before and what is your experience? I like this design because it leaves me a complete bed to use when I am not...

    Fuel Prices!

Just filled up the truck yesterday and diesel was about $1.85/gal. First time I can remember it being more the regular gas. Word is that the government is buying up the kerosene stocks for jet fuel. The prez. and his buddies just keep raking it in ... Fortunately, I had purchased off-road...

Bad back - time for a bigger bucket

Back problems are putting a crimp on my ability to use my rear blade for snow removal. A bit frustrating with all the snow that has fallen here in New Hampshire, but my chiropractor has advised against all the twisting around that using the blade entails. I asked him if he would write a...

    Which laser level to chose?

I have been leaning towards getting a laser level system as it gets harder and harder to find an assistant for using the transit these days. I want something that I can use indoors and out, preferrably self-levelling and as reliable as possible. I know I am looking at anywhere from a few...

How to disable the hydraulics - and then fix them!

While winching away mounds of hard maple from a recent storm, I had the hydraulics quit on me this afternoon. No bucket lift, no 3ph lift, nada, nothing zilch. Looked around and didn't see any telltale signs of massive fluid dumps. Was just about to call it a day and call the dealer in the...

    Pay Attention!

I was heading over towards Brattleboro, VT on Saturday and saw a small excavator caught in telephone lines like an arresting hook. The excavator had an extended boom and the cylinder on the main arm made a perfect catch of three or four large telephone cables. The impact appeared to have...
