I do what I can do--my hourly rate is a helluva lot less than my dealers' (both of them- New Holland & Kubota); and, if there's something I can't do I load it up ($75 fee Times 2) and bite the bullet. Oil, filters, fluids, grease pretty easy to do, for me so far. But, you gotta feel good about...
Worked for our state hwy dep't 'shed' in summer ('67) ; had a big Cat dozer D 5? Had to help the crew leader who operated it prep it; it had a gas engine to turn it over--amazed me, never had heard or seen such a 'creature'....he kindly explained/demonstrated it . Great real world learning...
Definitely - I used 15w40 Delvac (the old formula-not synthetic, etc.) several (10+) years ago when in southern Missouri- cold winter=blue smoke. Switched to a 10w30-(not Delvac--couldn't get that weight??) No more problems. Just switched to MFA (Mo. Farmers Assoc.) 10w30 semi (cheaper than...
Both 'brands' good, imo; and, dealers are bu$iness men/women= if they can make more margin on one brand, everything else 'reasonably' equal. ****, I'd do it...$ usually always a BIG factor....
Sadly, you can get a 'bad' egg in every dozen once in awhile; but, appears to me to be several "issues" may be the problem= user error, dealer prep/checklist/how-to-use this or that, defective part(s). I would personally go with New Holland or Kubota for a smaller less than 50 hp unit but...
Kit costs $200 and change from Motor Snorkle but haven't bought it yet. Thought I'd seek advice from this "Family". Any advice, suggestions, opinions, etc. anyone of you would be appreciated.
I'd go with a Deere. Quality never costs-it always pays. I think 50 horse and above are Deere diesels; below that Yanmar?? Get Deere's engine. My opinion.
I have read all these comments with personal interest. My opinions are: Do Not use bio-diesel (soybeans and diesel grow 'organism' that clog filters peer the advice of my New Holland sales mgr's advice years ago....; I buy 'red' diesel from my Co_Ops (2) which have high turnover because of the...
Kubota excellent quality; premium priced. Mahindra old technology? Deal network/service?? Spec out a New Holland. Deere's are good; but, I understand their engines under 50 horse are Not Deere (Yanmar??) Yanmar a good engine; not a Deere engine, IMO.
