Just ordered new front turf tires for the S470D Buck

When I bought it, somebody had replaced the turfs with Ag tread, and now that I'm using it to mow, the Ag's were too much for my yard. Not to mention they probably weren't exactly right diameter to match the rear turfs properly for 4WD use. Bought the last set of two in stock from Pete's Tire...

3 point hitch help needed for S470D Buck

My Buck doesn't have the original lower lift arms, I believe they're from Kubota. No issues in the last yr with a blade, but now I've got a Woods RDC54 finish mower. I have the lower hitches on the mower extended out. As Woods prescribes in their manual, I have the top link lined up with the...

thinking about adding an overflow tank to cooling system

on the Buck. This may not improve the function much, but would allow the radiator to be completely full all the time with no air, avoid spilling antifreeze on the ground, and require less "topping off". Maybe it would improve the cooling function a little. I brainstormed an idea for the tank...

Woods RDC54 "Limited Cat 1" - means what?

apparently this is an endlessly debated topic, like the best motor oil to use. Is this correct: "Limited Cat 1" means the tractor may not lift an implement as high as a "Cat 1", but all the pin sizes and width of lower arms, etc, are the same as "Cat 1"? If that's so, I guess Woods is saying...

Might buy a Woods RDC54. Opinions?

I've got a Mitsubishi/Satoh Buck S470D 4wd tractor, 18.5 hp/ 16.5 hp at the pto. Most seem to recommend a 48", some say a 60" would work. I've got a hilly, mostly open, 2 acres to mow. Currently using a GT2550 Cub Cadet, 50" deck. Seems like the extra 6" would be worth the roughly $500 vs...

Loaded the tires on the S470D Buck today.

9.5 x 18 Ag tread. Took just under 14 gallons each tire. Used Propylene Glycol (RV antifreeze) and water 50-50. Got the antifreeze at WalMart on clearance a few weeks ago for $3.50/gal. Read somewhere about using a 2 gal tank sprayer for pressure, and that's what I ended up using. I already...

    mowing speed @ 2600 rpm

still investigating getting a rear finishing mower for the Buck. Looks like a 4 footer, maybe a First Choice rear discharge, a guy has them on EBay for $1000 free shipping. So looks like I'm supposed to maintain about 2600 rpm to spin the PTO (set at "1") at 540. In Hi 2nd, that's a...

4 or 5 foot finish mower for Satoh Buck

S470D manual says 14.6 PTO HP, 18.5 bare engine HP Specs for various 4 or 5 foot mowers vary widely, but around 15-20 min HP. I'm sure a 4 foot would work fine, and have found a "leftover" new FirstChoice for a decent price. Some people say I could pull a 5 foot. I found a nice '09 leftover...

Put lights on the Buck today.

Bought this tractor without the plastic headlight mount/trim piece. Wiring was still there, but burnt. Worked on a lot of under-dash wiring stuff this summer, and got an alternator/regulator kit from Valley a while back. Time for lights. Bought a pair of small 55w halogen flood lights...

Rear tire chains for S470D Buck

Well, I guess it's time to get chains for the Buck. I've got the "diamond pillow" turf tires and I need to be able to scrape a 450' gravel driveway, which is on a hill, when it snows. I've got plenty of traction for rear blade work with the gravel, but frozen stuff may be a different story...

Ford Courier alternator fit a Buck?

I've seen this mentioned on here for other Satoh/Mits, but not specifically the S470D. From pictures, it looks close except the lower mounting lugs are spaced farther apart than the original. It looks like not enough room on my Buck for that, but maybe people use spacers or turn it upside down...

Buck Glow plug indicator doesn't get red

When I turn the key to heat, and hold my hand over the indicator, I can feel it get warm. Haven't held it on heat more than about 30 seconds, and it starts fine. But I read in the repair manual it's supposed to glow red, and if not, one of the glow plugs has failed. I also see there's a...

    Pulling a finish mower with a S470D

still tinkering with my new toy, considering if it would be better to use it to mow with, instead of my Cub Cadet GT2550 (hydrostatic, 50" deck). Initial research looks like a 48" mower is about as big as I can go. I mow a little more than 2 acres in about 2 1/2 hrs with the cub, yard is...

Newbie to the site and my S470D

Did a little research this afternnoon, but looking forward to learning about the '86 Satoh S470D Buck that I bought this afternoon. Also have a lot to learn about tractors in general, as this is my first venture larger than a garden tractor. I got a brand new TSC 5' blade with the tractor...
