    Tractor Hours/Year

John Deere 5045E bought new in 2021 has 592 hours. Used for maintaining 20 acres, food plots, garden, mowing, firewood harvesting, and baling. A little snow removal as needed.

I hear what you're saying about the 4WD. Just hard for me to justify the $10,000.00 difference. Granted, I stuck the 1020 a couple of times by getting on a down slope and trying to pick up a bucket load of wood or rock. Never stuck so bad I couldn't dump the bucket and reverse out.

I'm thinking about pulling the plug on a new 5045E, 2 wheel drive. Let me hear the good the bad, should've done, problems, wish I would've got, etc. Why would you, or would you not get one. My 66 1020 has been a trusty steed, but recently developed liner leaks in 2 cylinders. Thanks in advance.

John Deere Van Brunt grain drill model number

Looks to me like a FB 11-7. Eleven drops on 7" spacing. You can go to https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/68663/referrer/navigation/pgId/15745 for parts breakdown. Some parts are still available. Hope this helps.

Homemade Tool Bar for Garden Bedder aka Disc Hiller

I'd recommend using plenty of lube/coolant, don't force the bit, and drill the correct size. If you drill the hole oversize for the pin, it allows the pin to move around, eventually egging out the hole. Most top link pins have a shoulder to stop the pin from going all the way through the hole...

25". With the lower pins located an inch below, or centered on the cross beam, this put the top link attachment at 26". IIRC that's a typical category 1 3 point standard. Sorry, I meant to put that measurement in the last post. Hope this helps.

Yeah, you can use grade 8 or whatever you think you need. I just made what was needed using some grade whoknows 1/2" bolts and some scrap pieces of 1/4" diamond plate to make the brackets. It's what I had in the shop, and is plenty tough enough. Welded the pipe to a 3"x5" piece of plate, and...

Homemade Tool Bar for Garden Bedder aka Disc Hiller

In your original post, it's the 4th picture down. Date in the corner is Mar 7 2012. The picture shows the beta version when I was playing with the idea. A piece of 2" square is temporarily sandwiched between the upright, and the pipe to hold the cultivator shank. There are 2 nuts welded to...

Homemade Tool Bar for Garden Bedder aka Disc Hiller

I built the hillers in the first and fourth pictures you posted. They're made from 2" square 1/4" wall tubing. The orange painted hiller got sold to a neighbor of mine, and he uses it every year, 10 years now. The 2nd hiller I added a pipe to place a cultivator shank in. It's purpose is to...

high pressure tree sprayer run on PTO

I built this 35 gallon sprayer partially to use on my peach and apple trees, and other field spraying needs. It has a 12' collapsible boom, 12V solenoid valves that toggle between boom and wand outputs. A 6 roller pump supplies plenty of volume/ pressure. I mounted the stub of a PTO shaft on...

Value and opinion on Bush Hog SQ160 mower

Bought mine for $750.00, 2 years ago. Replaced the blades/bolts this last week. Still have less than $850.00 in it. The gearbox doesn't leak, and works just fine. Don't have rear chains, just the front ones. The only issue I have with it.....it blows a lot of chaff forward, through the...

    Radio for rops

I prefer the KISS principal........"mounted" on the left side of the buggy top framework. Admittedly, there is a fair amount of flutter when playing a cassette tape. 😁
