    JD 5045e cold start clicks

2015 5045e has a brand new battery as of last week (resolved other starting issues). Used the machine yesterday. Plugged it in last night due to cold but turns out I only connected it at the tractor, not in the barn 😬 It was below zero this morning and then temperature mid-day around 20 degrees...

JD 5045e slow to turn over

Thanks folks. Battery connections were ok but I picked up a load tester off Amazon and the battery is low on CCA, needs replacement. Accepting recs on Group 27 batteries…

JD 5045e slow to turn over

2015 5045e with about 450 hours. Original battery and 5 year old starter (they replaced during the original warranty period). Slow to turn over - a second or so pause after the first crank, etc. Tough to start already and we’re not even into freezing weather yet. Had some hard starts last winter...

Green fluid leak after low coolant

Ran my JD 5045e yesterday for about an hour to move snow. This morning found two areas of green spotting under the front axle. Realized I had not checked coolant level in a while and it was very low (nothing visible in the white fill tank). I've got the block heater on it now but worried I...

    Rotary cutter slip clutch maintenance

Have a new Frontier RC2072 rotary cutter. Used it once late last fall after I bought it, then covered it with a tarp and set it on some low blocking outside for the winter. Tried to leave enough space for airflow, but wish I had a better storage option. Anyway, looking for advice on what...

Appropriate post hole digger for tractor size

Need to dig holes for average size fence posts, nothing fancy, probably mostly cedar - 6" or 9" auger should do. Maybe a couple dozen holes a year. My JD 45e is roughly 50HP / 37 PTO HP and has a Cat 2 hitch. Two part question 1. Do I need to worry about burning out the gear box on smaller...

Buzz/squeal from hydraulics in cold weather?

JD 5045e. Temps last night about 5 degrees F. Ran the block heater this morning about an hour then started 'er up. The hydraulics whined/buzzed something wicked for the first 15-20 mins and then finally quieted down. Operating the loader relieves the noise temporarily. I assume this is normal...

    Torque wrenches

I have a new JD 5045e. First time tractor owner. The book suggests checking the torque on various things at 10 hours. Is a torque wrench something your average tractor owner should keep in the toolbox? Something like this...
