    Backhoe advice - thanks

All-- Quite some time ago, I was reading everything I could about backhoe operation. I have a Mahindra 5545, 4WD and a frame mounted backhoe, plus some other stuff. . An experienced backhoe operator wrote that it was not necessary to run the engine at brush hog speed; 2100rpm for me. I knew...

4570Man-- Good deal on your Kubota air filter! NOTHING from Mahindra is inexpensive. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

Bob-- The Komatsu skid steer is a 2005 machine. No environmental stuff. The 2016 Mahindra 5545 has none, either. What made me think to use different oils? I screwed up. I bought what I wanted for each machine and then--like a dummy--proceeded to switch them. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

4570Man-- I am going to answer your question. I just need some time on the computer to do so. I might learn something if you--or others--see what I bought and how much it cost. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

Gentlemen! Thank you for the assurances and advice. I will pick one weight and stick to it next time around. The good news is I never told my wife I tossed $258 down the drain. --Bill

    Wrong oil! (stupid on me)

All-- I changed the oil in my Mahindra 5545 (9 quarts) and my Komatsu SK1020-5 Turbo (10 quarts) skid steer today. I decided to use 15W-40 in the tractor and 10W-30 in the skid steer, using the temperature range shown in their respective manuals. Except, I screwed up. I flipped them: The...

    Mahindra 5545 code 73.1

All-- My 5545 is throwing code upside down "F" 73.1. By the time I got home it had gone to 73.6 and then to 73.7. (I may have missed intermediate codes.) I guess this is an error code or maybe an alert? Thanks! --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- My tractor has two filters; the outer paper filter blew the dust off and an inner filter is pristine. If not, I dilo have sey scheduled for the big Kuomatsu rosta9u5l69 It. I am not discounting the wisdom of your advive. I'll change both. I believe I have a right to do that coming...

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- My GUESS is that a clogged air filter produces a fuel-rich exhaust which generates the white smoke. The degree of white smoke represents the amount of unburnt fuel in the exhaust. More white smoke means less fuel burned in the combustion process thereby reducing available power. --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

All-- We are all good now! I finally had a chance to get the tractor out of the garage today. If you remember, I thought the problem had fixed itself. WRONG. I cranked it up, backed it out and it seemed fine . . . until I put a load on it. (First gear, 2000rpm.) White smoke. The air cleaner...

    Don’t buy mahindra

All-- I have a Mahindra 5545 4wd. When new, I experienced a severe power steering leak. Broken line. Dealer fixed it. Got it home and within half an hour the same thing happened. I "steered" it onto the trailer using the left and right brakes. Suboptimal. Took it back to my Gold Star Mahindra...

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

Will S-- Good suggestions all. Thank you. I would never remove a fuel or oil filter and put the old one back on. We definitely have those rodents you mentioned! Draining some fuel is a good idea, thanks again. --Bill

Smoke, rough running and no power above an idle

tacticalturnip-- Yes, I have had good luck with it. It is solid, no plastic; 5567lbs without an implement. But I am worried about parts supply. My former dealer--back in Kansas--dropped Mahindra because he said that dealing with Mahindra corporate was a nightmare. There may have been other...
