My friend had a KLX300 (with the bigger piston kit) and a CRF250 at different times and I rode both a good bit. Both are great bikes, but you are 100% correct that the Honda has better aftermarket support. We remapped the FI on the CRF and it really woke it up while maintaining reliability.

That is not the same thing. In the article you quoted, the guy shot into the air. The bullet will achieve terminal velocity coming back down which is enough to kill someone. Shooting horizontally the bullet begins to lose velocity the moment it leaves the barrel.

If you put it in float, then it shouldn't put too much pressure on it - I think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Flail mowers are great for grass and thin branches. Not so much once you get above about 2-3".
