They have inexpensive $100 or less for 4 replacement suspension spring assemblies on Amazon. I would say if you can get a clone/replacement for under $100 for 4, go for it. But $200 seems like a lot when the problem could be the drum bearing etc as others have indicated.

Larry, I believe the tolerances are such that a 1" bushing will fit inside a 1" bearing. I just did several projects with metal sleeves/bushings on cylinders with 3/4" 1" and 1.5" and they fit together just tine. If you have a TSC or similar close by these are $3.79 each...

HI Larry, Just go to TSC (Tractor Supply) and get a 3/4 to 1" bushing for $3 if your not doing over the road use.

Ha funny one WOIC123 - I grew up since 8 yrs old running a JD 420 with a 2 bottom plow, allis combine, a 14t baler, old hay rake and forked manure by hand - a lot of hard work. I have no regrets leaving that hard, manual farm work behind, but I do miss the smell of a plowed field, or fresh cut hay.

Don't use cable as bcp said, and with chain you will need a smaller 1/8" or maybe 3/16. Chain uses velocity to shred stuff vs cutting so takes more power to do the work, I'd stick with old blades and maybe try to raise the deck higher to clear rocks?
