This assumes equivalent of 30mpg gascar and 11,000 miles/yr average. So the $200 fee still seems not far off…….
It is true you can't just pull over any old place and charge your car. It takes some planning.... to charge where the chargers are. It is not impossible. You present a case where someone did not plan ahead. For those incapable of planning ahead, EVs are not yet for them.

Exactly the opposite here. In my hometown there is a “chargepooint” charger at the town hall parking lot. Rate is set by the local utility and is exactly the rate of daytime (on peak) electricity at my house.
Also searching the “chargepoint” map, i find many FREE charging locations!!
