I'm going to build a log splitter and I was hoping to use some metal I have around the yard. Rather than buying an I-Beam, I am considering building one out of 3/8" x 6" plate over a piece of 2"x2" 1/4" wall structural tubing. Would this be strong enough for a cylinder with a 24" push of 14 tons?
