I'm sure it has been untouched for 56 years! I have tried to get two mechanics and one shop to remove it for overhaul, but no one would do it. I know why now! Leaking diesel combined with dirt makes a huge mess. Thanks for your help!
Azbinder referenced bolt #44 with nut and washer (Bolt, 5/16''-24 x 1.46''), three of them. Are you meaning that these three have to come out to release the pump (holes through which they pass circled in blue on the pump diagram attached)? Also, are two of them what I circled in blue in Post #5...
I removed the three pump flange to drive gear bolts. The pump doesn't seem to budge. In the attached pictures, can you see any other bolts/nuts that I need to remove? Or, do I just need to pry and pound harder to get the shaft loose from the gear? (I break things easily and I don't want to...
Thank you both so much. I think I'm ready to pull it. Hope that after repair, I will be able to shut the fuel valve off without having to prime every time.
I have removed the cover (38 in the drawing). The "housing" I referred to above is 25 front engine cover in the drawing--not to be removed. So, if I remove only the three bright bolts that connect the pump to the drive gear, the pump will come out? Will the drive gear and the keyway stay where...
I have removed one end of the lower radiator hose, to get to the front pump cover. I have not removed the housing that the cover is bolted to. Is that necessary? My biggest question is where and how many the bolts are that mount the pump to the engine. I can see two: one on the right and one...
I have posted about leaks from this P4665 pump before, but the situation now is so bad that it needs a rebuild. Has anyone removed this before (front end loader attached)? Do I have to remove the radiator and manifold to get to all of the mounting bolts? I have the front and rear covers off (but...
I have a fuel leak that appears to be at the left side of the pump body. It drips down from the pump body on the tank-to-lever pump line. It is not from any of the metal line flare connections. The lever primer pump and gasket are new. It looks to me as though there are only two other...
Received the filter/gasket from Messicks. Some kind of nonwoven fibrous filter media. Looks like the "textile tube" that I removed, except that a previous owner had drilled holes through it and wrapped/clamped a screen around the old filter. I wonder if the PO did that to get more flow through...
I have a 1967 Ford 3500 with 735 Loader and 753 Backhoe. Plan today was to change hydraulic oil and filter; CNH got for me a 86546604 kit, which has a steel mesh, pleated paper canister and cork gasket with 2 diam. hole. They said this was what I needed for the reservoir in the left side 735...
Ford 3500 TLB: Bite Or Pass?
Asking price: $6000. Model 7D17B 5600 hrs (meter still works). I need to get about 200 hrs of ditching done without major headaches; about 70% backhoe work, 30% loader work.
The not so good:
Power steering cylinder leaking pretty badly.
Play in hoe swing chain...
