Help Fixing JD GT Exhaust Leak

Thank you! Re over tightening, I have had a very hard time finding torque spec for this nut online. John Deere's technical manual provides torques in a table based on nut size, seems to indicate ~ 50 ft lb. I looked up the Kawasaki motor, and those sources indicate 15 ft lb ... I took...

Help Fixing JD GT Exhaust Leak

Ok, I did some more work on this problem tonight. The photo above is the left-bank exhaust. You may be able to see the flange is warped so the center of the gasket makes a very poor connection with the face of the ex port. In other words, it's only tight behind the nuts (I think). The right bank...

Help Fixing JD GT Exhaust Leak

Good evening, I am battling a John Deere x485 exhaust leak this week. Kawasaki 2-cyl FD711D. Ive replaced both the metal gaskets, but I notice the exhaust pipe flange doesn't seat very flat to the motor exhaust port on either side. They appear to be slightly warped. Can I flatten the pipe...

    Clunky/Sticky PTO 1 Gear Mt372

Thanks for the reply--I'll try shifting pto while I'm in neutral, different rpms and see if it acts different. It runs smooth, no complaints there, just the engagement that is catchy. Watched a bunch of PTO rebuild videos trying to get a mental image of its guts.

    Clunky/Sticky PTO 1 Gear Mt372

I've noticed lately the PTO gear 1 on this MT372 needs some babying to engage. Usually just have to double clutch, or do a clutch--roll off the brake an inch--slot into gear type maneuver to get there. Sometimes wants to click in rough, but sometimes I get it just right and goes in smooth. PTO...

Mitsu SCUT Tire Condition, Ag vs Turf

Thanks for the replies. I will budget the new tires in the next month or two, and take the ag rear, turf front route. Piloon, hope you're able to keep finding those tires. Odd how tire scarcity makes whole tractors obsolete before their time on some of these models.

Mitsu SCUT Tire Condition, Ag vs Turf

Hi all, First time tractor owner seeking some input on a tire decision. My 2wd Mitsubishi MT372 tires are pretty beat up & dry-rotted. They're the original Bridgestone turf tires on rear 9.5-16. Carlyle 4-ply 18x8.5-8 on front. Not sure how to evaluate this on a tractor -- would y'all replace...

    MT372 Grease Fitting Size

I've finally determined the grease fitting size on the MT372 steering kingpin grease point: 1/8" BSPT (British Std Pipe - Tapered). After fighting forever with M10x1 and 1/8" NPT, I gave these a try and sure enough they're exact. I haven't tried to replace any of the others since the rest are...
