I have the John Deere Gator 850D XUV and I don't think you can beat it. When in the market I test drove the Kawasaki Mule and the Kubota RTV. The Kawasaki was very good but I didn't like the way the Kubota handled. Your best bet is to go and test drive any and all that you are considering.

I have the John Deere Gator 850D XUV and I don't think you can beat it. It is an 850cc diesel with a hydraulic dump box. When was in the market I tested the Kawasaki Mule and good and I also tested the Kubota and did not care for the way it handled.
I have both a TLB and an excavator and since I got the excavator I haven't used the hoe on the TLB. Wish I had bought the tractor without the hoe. Whatever you choose, decide what the largest, most powerful TLB you think you need and then get a larger one.
John Deere and Kubota are both great tractors. If you get a backhoe be sure to get it with a thumb. Get 4-wheel drive. Get loaded tires. A cab is a nice luxury if you expect to use in very hot or cold weather.. Of course get a loader. Finally, decide what is the maximum/heaviest tractor...
