BX rear tires are 26x12x12. I doubt BX tires will work on your tractor, just judging from images I looked at on line... Looks like your rear tires are larger in diameter than 26 inches...

As commented on many times above, the OP is basing everything on the temperature gauge reading, without doing anything to verify if it is accurate or not. Seems logical that somehow verifying the reading, even if simply replacing the gauge itself, would be a good first step in the process of...
