    Better Lynch Pin?

I used bailing wire, a couple of twists round and round and no problems.

General lawn mowing with 54” deck

Make sure the tires have the proper inflation pressure. If one has less then the one on the other side the deck will be lower on that side.

Universal Quick Attach Bucket Dropped on Both Feet

On the JDQA the lower part of the base just has two 1 inch holes, the upper part casting where the bucket cylinders attach is a rounded bar. The bucket has curved hooks facing back those bars fit into, the lower part of the bucket has two pins sticking straight back. You pull up to the bucket...

Universal Quick Attach Bucket Dropped on Both Feet

The JDQA gets lots of hate, why I do not know. You just lift out two clips while standing behind and to the side of the bucket, put the bucket down and back out. Attaching the bucket is just the reverse. No need for cheater pipes or hammers, a five year old could do it.

Tractor hard to start in cold

I have a 510 and when it needed new batteries I just bought one large 12v. It was cheaper then 2 six volts and dropped right in. I do not know if the 310 has the same battery compartment, you will have to measure to see if one will fit and if it has the same cold cranking amps.

    Skid steer fire.

All skid steers have an escape hatch in the roof. Flip that puppy up and climb out the top.

    Tractor Newbie pulling stumps

All my experience is with farm tractors (JD 3020 and JD 4250). Either it will lift or it won't, no harm either way. In my 27 years of farming I probably lifted an implement over a million times (yes, a million, potato growing in Florida requires lots of cultivation.) No power lift ever had a...

PTO Generator inadequate for larger HP motors?

Depends on the size of the generator. I have 16 kW generator I used on my farm, it will start and then run three 3 hp motors and three 1 hp motors.

    another hiccup to going solar?

That is exactly what I did. I have the heavy loads (electric heat) connected to the grid power and a transfer switch to connect the rest to the grid if my batteries get low. $20,000 for an 11,000 pvw off grid system and I did the install myself. I did find out I am a little short on power so I...

    another hiccup to going solar?

I have an off grid solar system and a connection to the grid. If my batteries get too low I use a transfer switch to connect my home back to the grid. My heavy loads are on a separate circuit always connected to the grid.

Why don’t you own a toothbar?

Those little tabs just keep it from pulling off when back bladeing. The tooth bar does not just sit on top of the bucket cutting edge, each tooth shank has a slot under it that wedges under the bucket cutting edge. These are the same shanks that go on excavator buckets, you are not going to...

    Tires Dk5310se, new R14 Tire blow-out

I once did one better. I would do weekend work for a large land owner, he also owned the local Kubtoa dealership. This was in northeast Florida. He had a five acre wooded lot that had been logged off and was going to replant it with pines. A log skidder had pulled a rolling forest chopper...

General opinions on R1 vs. R14 tires?

I owned a farm for 25 years but no longer have access to any of the equipment. On most tractors the drawbar is the lowest part. With big tractors you straddle two rows so that doesn't matter. As long as the circumfrance ratio remained the same changing tires would work. I do straddle the row...

General opinions on R1 vs. R14 tires?

I got my small tractor (JD 1023E) to work my garden. The R4's are so wide my rows have be too narrow. Also the tractor is too low, I can not cultivate the rows after the plants grow a bit. I wonder if anyone makes narrow rims for this tractor ( it is the same frame as the much more popular...
