    PT 1850 oil and filter-change geezer-reminders

Hi all, Long time no post -- sorry Covid kinda knocked things loose for a few years and I'm just now getting back to the PT maintenance. Which means I forgot a lot of stuff (and am more likely to forget it again). So here's a link to a little "reminders" post I just wrote myself...

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

Back a few pages I mentioned that my Kubota/LandPride hybrid snowblower presented a puzzler because we couldn't raise the back of it and thus couldn't use it on my gravel road. The folks at the dealer went to work and modified it by getting rid of the goofy spring suspension thingy at the front...

    Pull type Hybrid snowblowers ?

Anybody running the Kubota/Land-Pride Hybrid (SBP16nn) on gravel roads? I just took delivery on one and as far as I and the local tech smart-people can figure out, this rascal is really aimed at "driveways, parking lots and sidewalks." That's a quote from the user manual. If you look at...

    PT woes..... 1850 wiring

I've got a couple 1850 wiring diagrams for ya. They both came from this forum, but long enough ago that I can't remember who pushed them to me. Amnesia, fersure. I'm in. Here's one, i think created by somebody on the forum Here's a link to the other one -- looks like it's from PowerTrac...

Weird electrical puzzler - breaker pops, the PT1850 runs better until it's shut off

Sheesh. I just realized I never finished off this thread. The attached picture is of the old alternator. It was indeed fried as you can see from the middle gizmo which is burned out of its housing and only attached at one end. I'm thinking it's a diode. I eventually threw in the towel and...

Weird electrical puzzler - breaker pops, the PT1850 runs better until it's shut off

The new alternator is in. I've attached the photo I took at the "what could go wrong??" moment where the old one was out and the new one was on its way in. Drum-roll.... Not much change. The charging voltage is 14.6 instead of 14.8, which makes me a little calmer (but probably isn't...

Weird electrical puzzler - breaker pops, the PT1850 runs better until it's shut off

Good stuff all... I can buy the "failed open" theory. And my symptoms now mirror Ken's, so I'm feeling better about dropping in the new alternator. I've checked the battery connections and think they're in pretty good shape -- but it won't hurt to pull the non-battery ends and clean em up...

Weird electrical puzzler - breaker pops, the PT1850 runs better until it's shut off

Thanks for the ideas. The breaker sees the battery upstream and the battery side of the ignition switch downstream. That's why I'm puzzled that the machine continues to run -- I would have thought that the breaker would shut the machine off. Here's a link to a blog post I just started...

Weird electrical puzzler - breaker pops, the PT1850 runs better until it's shut off

Hi all, sorry to be such a fair-weather member of the forum. I only bring you puzzlers and then off I go for a while. Anyway, here's this year's puzzler: reset circuit breaker Turn ignition on without starting motor -- I get the normal beeps, flashing strobe and 12.4 volts on the gauge...

The downside of a tilting seat

Yup, I like the tilt seat as well. Here's a picture of a typical slope here at the farm -- a fixed seat would be a problem...

Draft-control valve replacement fixes all kinds of things

Bah. I was just testing you. It's not the filter for the draft control circuit. It's the charging valve filter. Sorry about that -- draft control, seat leveling and brake tender circuits all go through that charging valve in one way or another. Here's a picture of the draft control valve...

Draft-control valve replacement fixes all kinds of things

Hi all, Remember my "1850 hydraulic pressure pulsates" puzzler a while back? Here's the link to the thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/power-trac/313875-1850-hydraulic-pressure-pulsates-any.html The semi-OK cure was the replacement of the brake-tender and charging valves, but things...

Back amongst the living - update on all the issues

Hi Marrt, I think I've attached a picture of the charging valve. As Peter says, it sits in a whole bunch of circuits. I've never experienced what you're describing. Mostly when mine fails it has blown seals and just leaks oil all over the place, without changing the behavior of the 1850...

1850 Hydraulic pressure pulsates - any theories for cause?

Hm. Here's a picture and a related question. As I look at the brake tender that is gonna get replaced, there are two hoses (the ones with "101" and "73" on them) that got clobbered. The two elbow connectors are going to have to be replaced for sure, no big deal. It's hard to see, but the...

1850 Hydraulic pressure pulsates - any theories for cause?

Hi all, I've just laid down a huge time-consuming piece of volunteer work which means I have a lot more time to get in trouble with my 1850. :) So today I decided to do the routine maintenance and replace the hydraulic filter. When I fired up (after bleeding), the hydraulic pressure started...
