    Maple Syrup

It ran pretty good here today. Not a huge run, but at least a gallon per tap. It started earlier in the day than it has been, so that helps a lot. Got my cooker fired up for the first time. Boiled about 800 gallons of sap in 4.5 hours. Used about 50% of a cord of wood. Drew off about 9 gallons...

    Maple Syrup

I tend to agree, though them be fighting words on the syrup forum. I will say that I don't think which type of wood makes any difference. Personally I prefer softwood. It doesn't fill the firebox with coals and it burns hot and fast, which is what I want. Also, it's a good way to use that kind...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

Been splitting a bunch of wood lately. A friend of mine is establishing a deer farm, so they had a bunch of trees removed from their 80 acres. I hired a local tree service with a knuckle boom truck to move 4 loads for me. They said their truck holds 4 cords, and for 3 of the 4 trips I was able...

Tires Kubota MX Series, 2-WD. Does front axle allow adjustment of front wheel spacing?

Alright Jeff, since you're such a stand-up guy I went ahead and downloaded the manual and searched out the info. Here's the adjustment procedure: And the possible configurations:

ATV salt spreader on my CUT? Anyone done this?

I'd like to mount a small 12 volt broadcast spreader to the front of my little NH. I'm not worried about the mounting aspect, but I'm wondering if anyone's got experience with this type of spreader? Also, being that my tractor is quite a bit longer than an ATV, I'm wondering if the control will...

Ordered a Lamar equipment trailer yesterday

Good call on the deckover, Rye. Mine is nowhere near as nice as that one, but I love not having fenders to worry about. Makes it much more useful for moving logs. I also set mine up for processing firewood. I use the tractor to load logs on the trailer, buck them up there, slide/roll rounds to...

Been working on a job for a good friend. Took down about a dozen oaks of various sizes that were dead from oak wilt. Now we're bucking and splitting. Just like Sawyer Rob does it, we're loading logs onto the trailer, bucking and then rolling/scooting to the splitter. From there it's just a pivot...

    Actual cost of firewood

Here is my F250 loaded with a full cord of white oak. I measured it after I helped unload and stack it (sister and BIL) get special treatment), so I'm sure of the amount. I'm not sure if it's actually legally loaded, or slightly over the limit. My truck is a bit unique in that it grosses at...

    Considering Selling my 2002 F250 7.3 with 80,000 miles

I traded $300 and a cord of firewood for my Wangler. It's probably mostly rust by weight, but makes a good poor-man's UTV.

Skidded out some white oak earlier this week: I've got a couple of poplars and a dinky little elm to pull out tomorrow morning, and hopefully I'll get started on a big ash tree that blew over about 18 months ago. I've got it mostly bucked into reasonable logs, now I just need to figure out how...

Here's a shot of my MX putting some racks of evaporator wood out of the way. Come next spring I'll put them right in front of the syrup cooker. Each rack holds about 40% of a cord. Since this is softwood, my cooker will use about a rack per hour once it's rolling. Maybe a little less.

    Pictures of Your New Holland

Here's my '99 TC29D with my new three point splitter. Bought it almost two years ago with 850 hours. Got almost 200 more now. It's handier than a pocket on a shirt, and having it around saves me a ton of time because i don't have to swap implements as often.

Duplicate post, so I'm editing it to be a picture of my 660 with a 36" bar. :)
