54C belly mower - blades not overlapping?

I just purchased new blades for my 2210 with a 54C belly mower. This is the first time I replaced the blades (only owned it for a year) and when I got the new ones, I noticed they didn't overlap at all. I found the part number from JD Parts and actually noticed they are identical to the ones...

Mowing  Mowing speed for JD 2210 with 54c belly mower

I have a JD 2210 with 54c belly mower and I'm wondering what a good speed to mow at is? I don't know the type of grass, but I keep it about 3-4 inches long and live in Michigan. Any tips on speed would be great. I currently mow in low gear at roughly half speed.

Are these holes for overflow of the gear oil??

I do have one last follow-up question. If you look at the image below, i was adding gear oil to through the top (red arrow), but there are also plugs on the side of the gear drive. Number 18 and 17 are both a type of plug, but are really low on the gear drive. Was I putting gear oil in the...

Are these holes for overflow of the gear oil??

So you would still grease them then? Or are you saying i need to get new bearings to make it sealed? Also I did find an image of the worm gear drive in the manual.

Are these holes for overflow of the gear oil??

Update! I went to the hardware store to see what I could find. I didn't have a good way of measureing the hole size so I took something that looked about the right size with me. The Pipe plugs were all too big so i ended up getting some metric bolts, and they worked. The pic below shows the...

Are these holes for overflow of the gear oil??

I just got a Ber-Vac 60" snow blower attachment a few weeks ago. I drained the gear oil and put in fresh, but since there isn't any window or indicator saying when its full, i just tried to fill it. I noticed as I was filling, it started to leak out a hole on the side (see attached image, i...

suggested gear oil is SAE 90, but I can't find any

Thank you all for your help. Now for a followup question, how full do you fill the gearbox? I don't see a dip stick or window that shows how full it is. Attached is an image of the gearbox.

suggested gear oil is SAE 90, but I can't find any

All, I went to my local TSC, and several auto parts stores and can't find any SAE 90 gear oil. I just purchased an older Ber-Vac 60" snowblower and it says the gear oil needed is SAE 90. Can I use something different?

Question on Phosphoric acid rust converters

I just bought a used 60" snowblower attachment that was kept outside by the previous owner. There is a fair amount of rust on it, but also some dull old paint. For those that have used phosphoric acid, do you just apply it to the entire surface to make sure you get all the rust spots? Then...

Greasing my 2210's fittings and have some questions

I purchased my JD 2210 last year and I want to grease all the fittings. I read that you don't want to mix certain lubricants, but how do i know what was used before if I can't contact the old owner? Is it best to just clear out all the old grease first to be safe? If so, how do you do that...

I have a JD 2210 and it is currently leaking transmission fluid in the rear just above the PTO shaft. I've looked on JD parts to see if i can get a new gasket or something, but I can't find any gasket for it. I have a feeling i am not looking at the correct part. Can anyone identify where on...

Looking for a tiller for my JD 2210 - King Kutter TG-48 a good option?

I live in Western Michigan and can't find a place to rent a tiller from, so now i am looking to purchase. I have a JD 2210 and from what i read, the King Kutter TG-48 is a good option from a price and quality perspective. Does anyone use this on a similar tractor? I will probably use it once...

JD 2210 Red fluid in the snow

I have a John Deere 2210 that I got this past fall. I started using it this winter for snow plowing with the FEL and it works great. I just started noticing a red/pink fluid in the snow if I let it sit for a bit while running. I looked in the rear of the tractor and found the transmission oil...

JD 2210 rear lights won't turn on

I installed two rear lights on my JD 2210 this past fall. I connected them into the pigtail on the rear so they are controlled with the current light switch. Yesterday I was out working on the driveway when all of a sudden the lights shut off. I turned all lights off for about 20 min and...

    Work Lights for JD 2210

I have a JD 2210 with a FEL and will be doing some snow removal in the winter. The FEL seems to get in the way of the headlights so I want to add a light or two to the ROPS or somewhere above the headlights, to make snow removal in the early morning possible. Is there an easy work light kit...
